Has anyone watched this yet? I've watched 9 and will watch the finale sometime this week.

It's very twisty and reminds me a lot of "Breaking Bad." I think it will appeal to fans of that show the most. I'm not absolutely in love with it but it's very intriguing and often darkly funny, and the performances are amazing. Jason Bateman, Laura Linney and Julia Garner are the standouts for me. The production value is also impeccable - gorgeous cinematography and a pulsating musical score.

I finished this in two days and I can honestly say I'm very much looking forward to Season 2. Their were plenty of twists I didn't see coming and Jason Bateman is fantastic in it. I also dug what they did with Laura Linney, but the villain really got the short end of the stick which was pretty disappointing.

I only watched this because a youtuber I watch mentioned it and I normally don't like Bateman anyway. The first episode got me really interested and I'm on 7 or so now. It's kind of slowing down but I'm still wanting to see how it goes.

I despise Peter Mullan's character. I still need to watch the finale but I hope he dies and doesn't come back.

I love, love, love this series. Absolutely riveting. A major achievement for Jason Bateman as an actor and director. I needed this, a terrific and character-driven crime drama, with Quarry ending prematurely and Bloodline coming to a (subdued, flawed) close.

So...

Spoiler: show
The redneck heroin couple that's tacky as fuck and totally cliched for this kind of genre are going to be the new antagonists. Great.

Finished season 1! Loved it. On par with Breaking Bad. Has anyone caught season 2?

Fantastic series. Really glad it's been renewed for a third season. Bateman and company are consistently great. Can't think of a weak link in the cast.

Almost done with season 3. Episode 9 was AMAZING. Laura Linney is slaying it.

I've just finished season 2 and it was SO MUCH better than season 1. Season 3 so far have been great as well.

I've got 1 more episode of Season 1 and have enjoyed it so I like the idea of S2 and S3 being even better!

Laura Linney's character has grown so much in the second half of the season 2 and she continues to steal the show in Season 3. Her character was mostly a side character in Season 1 and first half of Season 2.

I started watching this from Season 1 back in April and I just got to Season 3 yesterday.

Great show.

I finished Season 3 a while back. Very good. I enjoyed the show on the whole. Julia Garner is a standout.

I have just finished the first season. Very, very good. I'm hooked. I have been hoping for a replacement to Breaking Bad for so long now, but it's better than that in my opinion. I love all the scheming. It's not terribly exciting when the chasing FBI agent is on screen, but when it focuses on Bateman and co. it's really good. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves, and judging by its critics scores it peaks in its most recent season.

You are in for a treat. It's a great show.

Not sure if the most recent was the best (probably not) but it's a show that is solid throughout.

I've finished season two. I'm still loving it (which can be seen by how quickly I am getting through them) but I have noticed a bit of a plot hole (not sure if that's the right term, but it feels like something that is written around and thus feels like a gaping miscalculation purely for drama to ensue). Anyway, it's regarding Cade Langmore. What I don't get is why he doesn't just kill Marty and steal the money. He obviously has no problem with murder as he killed Roy Petty. And I don't believe it's because he would have the cartel chasing him if he killed Marty, because the FBI would be after him all the same (and I think the FBI have more at their disposal to catch him than a cartel from another country). He could kill Marty and nobody would know, and he could flee. And I get that Marty is the main character, and I suppose what I've mentioned is inherent in all TV and film, but it was something I observed nonetheless. Still a great show, and I'm going to start season three tonight.

I can no longer recall specifics of S2 but you may have a point. Enjoy.

When you watch three seasons back-to-back, you really get frustrated with the Navarro cartel's patience. There are problems week after week with the Byrde's operation in the Ozarks and yet the cartel still doesn't just off them all and find another solution. But apart from that it's still top drawer drama. I'm so glad that annoying bi-polar brother was removed. Now the series just needs to get rid of that annoying black FBI agent.

What I really love about the series is firstly the balls they have to kill off characters, and secondly when they're dead they're gone forever. I've finished all four seasons, and damn a lot of people perish to keep four Byrde's from dying. In one family alone...

Langmore family:

Cade Langmore, Russ Langmore, Boyd Langmore, Ruth Langmore, Wyatt Langmore, Three Langmore

Yes and that's such a welcome change in the current entertainment climate where people get "killed" and are somehow not really gone or the multiverse effect where characters are back because they are form some other ridiculous universe.

The Byrdes who appeared hapless at first, went along for the ride and were utterly ruthless. No pun intended!

I've watched two episodes. I enjoy the story, but there's something about the show that bugs me - the blue filter. The scene where he's at the strip club was so blue that I thought I was watching Ozark: The Way of Water. Do they reign back the blue in later seasons or will it always be like this?

Author:  MadGez [ Sun Jan 08, 2023 7:11 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: "Ozark" (Netflix)

Yeah, the blue filter remains throughout IIRC. It may become a little less overt, however.

Pretty cool that Julia Garner (Ruth Langmore) won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. :)
