Buffy the Vampire Slayer is definitely on that.
She deserves a top 10 spot, but she will probably be in the late 20's early 30's.
I guarantee that Buffy is on there, she HAS to be.
If she isn't, then no more Bravo for me!

Here then are some others if we are listing.

- Archie Bunker
- George Jefferson
- Lassie - isn't she always on these lists
- Tony Soprano - if cable is covered.
- Frasier Crane - 2 10+ tv shows
- Alex Keaton
- Bill Cosby
- Al Bundy - should be as the show lasted 10+ years. I Think?

Hawkeye from M*A*S*H!!! Dear god, I don't think there's many funnier characters in television history. Hawkeye Pearce may be the funniest. Well, at least the first few years, before Alan Alda began taking more control of the camera.

Kramer
George Costanza

Much as I loved them, Jerry and Elaine were kind of just bland and there to move the plot along. But Kramer and George were so vivid and unique.

Also...

- Black Adder
- Simon Templar (The Saint)
- J.R. Ewing
- Sonny Crockett
- Lou Grant (on the MTM show, not the Lou Grant show)
- Louie DePalma (Taxi)
- Hawkeye Pierce (Mash)
- Gareth (The office)
- Number 6 (The Prisoner)

These are not in order, just a bunch to add to the already named good ones.

Bump - list has been completed and I can't complain about the #1 - Archie Bunker. If you ever saw one of the episodes where he had a fight / discussion with Meathead / Mike Stivic / the son - in - law, you would understand, they were classic.

In ending, Archie Bunker and All in the Family changed television.

Considering that Gleason was big in the 50's plus reruns forever and All in the Family was in the 70's, I bet there are lots that would share your opinion.

But since this list covers over 50 + years on tv history, I think it is a good list.

And since Cartman made 19, I think that is still pretty good. In the top 20 of all of the tv characters in the history of tv.

Sorry, who is he? I didn't get cable when I moved 3 years ago to cut down on watching tv. Is he on that cable show - Six Feet Under.
