If only Seinfeld were on Netflix. I don't have a DVD player at school, unfortunately.

"The Jacket" is a great episode. I love Jerry's smugness at wearing the jacket. :funny: Great acting.

One thing I find odd is how in Curb, Jason Alexander refers to George Constanza as an idiot, a "yutz", and a "schmuck". I really don't see that to be true so far. He is just unlucky in love and socially awkward around females that he likes. Does that make him a moron? I mean, most men are like that aren't they? Of course, in Curb, Larry then defends the character because it was based on himself, but I have to agree with Larry. But until I started watching Seinfeld, I did not agree with Larry. I thought that perhaps Larry was wrong because that is the way Curb is sort of designed. But Jason Alexander was wrong, and I can see that watching Seinfeld will fill in a lot of gaps for me in Curb - not that I needed them filling in because I already love the show but I can probably appreciate it that much more now.

Oh he gets so much better as the series goes, and definitely much deuchier as the series progresses. Jerry and Kramer sink into what they are doing now and perfect it. George and Elaine both really develop into much better characters

I dislike Julia Louis-Dreyfuss because her character on Curb is such a snooty bitch. But in Seinfeld she's pretty nice. Very hard to undo all of my dislike for her. Same for Jason Alexander. But Kramer is pretty great.

There are a bunch of guest stars you will know of - especially among Jerry's girlfriends.

Enjoy - I've watched the series too many times to count but still love it. The fact you are watching it for the first time is fantastic and a real treat.

Seasons 3 and 4 are great. Season 4 is what made this show explode and is fairly serialised which wasnt common back then.

He's on camera I think in 6 episodes, but has 34 total cameos.. But I think my favorite line of his outside of playing Steinbrenner is "IS ANYONE HERE A MARINE BIOLOGIST?!"

Keith Hernandez and the JFK spoof episode is where the show became iconic in season 3, never even near missed after that.

I remember most of the voice cameos but could only remember the "man in a cape" physical cameo. Just googled and realised there are quite a few more!

The Keith Hernandez double episode is one of my favourites.

I appreciate her acting in Seinfeld more now than back then. She's perfect in location episodes like The Airport (underrated episode) and The Parking Garage.

She gets snootier in later seasons.

George and Elaine are by far the two superior characters out of the foursome.

Post subject:  Re: Seinfeld

That's because they are the two characters that actually grew. They were more foils in the earlier seasons, the second George and Elaine were given more of an edge they Killed it. I can't pick a favorite though. They are all brilliant in their roles. I never understood the "weak link argument"

I hope you get to see Puerto Rican Day in season 9. It's the last episode before the finale, to this day is the only episode banned from tv in America now, but it's hilarious

Have you seen it? I'm not sure if I have it. I'll look when I am at home.

Superior as in funnier? Because surely Jerry is the best, most superior, no? He seems on a higher ground than the rest. He is also the funniest, for me, at this point. His stand-up parts are what makes the show great for me. They break it up and they relate to the events of the show, and they are just funny. Seinfeld has a great way of delivering jokes.

It's the final appearance of one of my favorite side characters, the gay street toughs. Also the only time they all had to pretend to be their fake characters

Ok, well I have no idea about the "gay street toughs". I don't want to spoil anything either, so I will not watch that clip. But please keep talking about Seinfeld. I'm loving the re-emergence of chat about the show.

One interesting thing I saw in "The Statue" was a girl smoking. I thought "wow, that wouldn't be allowed these days in a sitcom".

Post subject:  Re: Seinfeld

I think Chandler in Friends was the last major sitcom guy to smoke. Then there was How I met your Mother occasionally touching on it

They did smoke on Seinfeld til the end.

It's fun that you haven't even gotten to Newman or the George's parents yet. Pusey and Peterman are great too.

Still plenty to discover.

Jiffy is right - sure The show centre around Jerry and Kramer steals the show with his antics but George and Elaine are the engine room, the heart and soul. But I do enjoy all 4 characters and the show needs all 4 equally.

And they debuted in perhaps the most famous episode of all - The Soup Nazi.

Seinfeld is my second favorite show ever after Friends. And agree with the thought above that George and Elaine are the best characters.

Kramer is often hilarious but his schtick can border on tiresome at times. Jerry is the straight man for the most part.

And its fun to see Jerry try and contain himself and not break out in laughter sometimes. He is after all the comedian among actors in the cast.

And love when he ad libs - ie. the Junior Mint episode.

I can confirm that I have it. It's not the penultimate episode, but instead the one before that.

The last episode is a clip show. They originally aired an hour doc before the finale.

But as far as clip shows go they also pretty much hit the standard with strong montages and behind the scenes look and even outtakes

It's based on a real story when David quit SNL and then pretended it was fake the next day.

Post subject:  Re: Seinfeld

Awesome. I did not know that.

Aren't a lot of the Seinfeld storylines based on David's life and experiences? He said in an interview that he used a lot of his own experiences when writing the first season, then when they renewed it for a second season he had to actually become a real writer and think up new stuff.

I just watched "The Heart Attack". It is pretty good, and the first cameo I've noticed from Larry David (on the TV as a space man).
