The whole letter about "finding meaning by protecting one person" is significant to Joel/Ellie.

I read in the game Frank gets sick of him and leaves, gets bit, hangs himself and writes a suicide note saying that at least if he's dead he doesn't have to spend another day around Bill. That probably would've been a bolder choice but less likely to make twitter jizz.

Otherwise I would have liked to see Bill live and embrace self sufficiency again. The arc was pretty anti-loner.

Robot Chicken did something similiar but the SNL version is better just because "I'm Yoshi .. and I'm bisexual." We know that totally would happen if the Marioverse every got a serious tv show made.

I wonder how the ratings are gonna be for tonight. Last week's episode got so much praise which should lead to a bump on its own and then you have Pedro hosting SNL to add to it.

Great episode. And also a good way to expand on the Hunters from the game. Getting upset, and thus making the viewer feel bad, about their friends being killed is such a Last of Us thing to do. Like in Part Two, when you stealth kill someone with a dog, the dog will not attack you right away like in other games but instead start whimpering sadly and nudging their dead master with their nose.

Also, I see that next week's episode will release early to avoid clashing with the superbowl. Not sure that's needed in the streaming age...

Does anyone live in this show besides Ellie and Joel?

This week was definitely a tough one. HBO is definitely using The Leftovers as their template. Some cool zombie action though. The bloater's debut was worth the wait.

I went into this with zero knowledge of the game. Halfway through the first episode, I thought it was about Joel and his daughter. Boy was I shocked. I even knew Lyanna Mormont was in the show but I didn't clue in until the time jump.

Excellent show so far. It's like everything The Walking Dead could have been but never ever was. I feel as excited watching it now as I did during the first season of Walking Dead, especially that first episode of TWD. They pretty much nailed the backstory plotlines so far for supporting/guest characters.

For those familiar with the games, is it following the basic plot so far? Curious how much it will deviate, especially if they want to start padding the show.

I was kind of mixed on the zombies/infected at first, but after the last episode and how they interact with humans, they look like they're really close to video game baddies.

The Joel / Ellie parts are basically the same but the side characters are all getting fleshed out with lots of screen time ... before they die at the end of the episode.

4 gay people during a zombie apocalypse isn't that implausible. I think.

Left Behind was the DLC for the first game. I never played it, but figured it would turn out the way that it did. Pretty good episode though I do worry about the show being seen as a one-trick-pony since the end of every episode is depressing. In the game, you have moments of triumph from beating a level, boss, etc... to counter all the sad moments. The show seemingly has no interest in doing that. It's The Leftovers with zombies.

If you go by modern television rules; half of the country is gay, half is black, half is latino and half is asian. We use ManBearPig rules now.

All episodes have been great so far, nothing extraordinary. Very well directed though.

You have a PS5 now though, and The Last of Us 2 just happens to be on sale for $10 on psn right now.

Cmon Zwack, join me and together we can rule the spoilers and drop cryptic hints about the big things coming up. Member all those people who recorded their friends reaction to the Red Wedding? This could be you!

I would play the first if I played it, but I’m still only 57% done hogwarts legacy so seems a waste to get it now.

My favorite episode since the first two. I also think it should have been the season finale. We're very close to the end of the game but I don't know if one more episode is enough.

I'm loving this so far. The show has done everything I wanted from The Walking Dead in just 8 episodes that they couldn't do in 11 seasons.

I'm scared they're going to ride the success of the first season into drawing it out more to make it last longer. This pace is great so far.
