Post Manga Topic Ideas/Suggestions
What are some thread ideas you guys would like to see?

I'd like threads dedicated to at lease these two (which I can format and post/update each week, similar to what I do with the Japan Box Office):

*Weekly Top 50 Sales
*Yearly Sales By Series and Volumes

Another idea is thread perhaps dedicated to a reprint schedule since reprints have become such a big issue over the past year.

I know most of this is posted and is largely discussed, and in far great numbers, on Reddit, MyAnimeList, among others, but there's been a good bit of discussion in the Japan Box Office thread that I believe interest is high enough to have a dedicated forum (and threads) for it here now as well.

Agreed Manga Sales Weekly and Yearly would be a good idea.

I am thinking people can create their own Manga review thread here as well. For example Demon Slayer Manga thread would be discussions on its volumes and what people thought about it after they finish reading.

Same, Weekly sales for me too xD
It's interesting to see which series will dominate not just in WSJ but also in other magazines too.

Yep this is a great subforum. I always felt like like this site needed a comic/manga board given how critical manga are to the japanese box office. We can even have a nice idea of what the next big BO hit will be in Japan based on manga sales.

Yearly, weekly (and perhaps monthly even) sales thread would be nice. Also, I don't think they count as manga but what about light novels? They are also graphical books and I believe tightly linked to manga.

Thanks Agafin for your feedback and yes we can create threads for light novels if you need to. Feel free to create one yourself :)

I'm already handling an Oricon thread on another forum, so if you are interested, I could help here.

That's pretty much exactly how I was going to operate the Weekly Sales thread for this forum, but if you have the time to do it on here as well (and it's not a chore, but rather for fun), let me know! If not, no biggie, I can do it.

-A list of running individual volume sales for the year. I know this is included next to the volume's weekly sales, but given their placement in the Top 50, you often need to search around it to see which volumes have sold the best for the year (or overall in some cases). So a list of the best selling manga by individual volume during the year is something I'd personally like (and can put together if needed) to see.

-A list of biggest first week sales for an individual volume for the year. This isn't an apple-to-apple comparison since sometimes it's comparing sales from the first 3 days versus the first 5 days, but the majority have 3-4 day debuts outside of some holiday weeks which can result in 5-7 day debuts (like three weeks ago, for example). I can also put this together if needed, just let me know. Don't want you, or anyone, feeling like they have a million lists and charts to update each week.

Sure, I've done these two, took me an hour or so, but I should be able to update these two lists easily now.

I don't know if I feel like doing the OP/creating the thread itself, but I wouldn't mind posting all the data in the thread as it comes out every week.

Post Re: Manga Topic Ideas/Suggestions
I started three threads: One for Weekly Sales, one for Yearly Sales, and one for First Week Sales.

Let me know if these are good, and/or if I should change anything with any of them or create more. For biggest first week sales, should there be a cut-off number in order to make the list (say, 50,000 or 100,000), or a determined Top X such as a Top 50?

And I'm not overly familiar with Shoseki. So feel free to discuss and incorporate it in any of the threads.

And let me, or anyone else know, what I can contribute with if it's too much. Doing this on two forums may be redundant after all. I have tons of time to handle most/all of this if you'd like (was already doing most of this last spring/fall for a couple months), and you or anyone else can contribute by correcting anything and sharing additional information (such as Shoseki data or other charts).

Hi. Thanks for all the threads created !
As suggestion : maybe a Records thread like the ones Iscariot mentions everyweek for KnY ?
First manga to hit 2, 3, 6M copies in Oricon History, etc...
Offcourse there won't be many to break after KnY but maybe JjK can catch a few ? Like the youngest manga to reach 50M copies in circulation, Monster #8 the fastest manga to hit 1M with volume 1, 2, 3. ^^'

Good point. A records thread might be useful even though it will not be updated as frequently once KnY finishes its run.

This is good. Everyone feel free to suggest what sort of records, in addition to those already mentioned, you'd like to see.

I already have a biggest first week sales (beginning with 750,000 copies or more) chart starting from 2008, so that can be included.

A lot of these (most of these) will need to be dated from 2008 onward when Oricon began tracking the sales, so some like "first manga to have a volume reach X million copies" will likely need an asterisk next to them. But that's fine, of course. Just something to remember before working on them.

I'll link this thread in the Japan Box Office thread in case some of our other members haven't see this new forum yet and want to participate in it.
