Re: Election Day 2016
I would say far too many Obama era Dems got complacent and overconfident, which seems obvious, but then I remember the massive support for Bernie. Hillary is one of the most flawed candidates in history. Too many Dems just looked the other way there. Sanders and his supporters knew it, sadly many wouldn't hear it.
But, equally saddening to me is the realization that so many Americans really are still hurting regardless of what data says. Trump won Pennsylvania. He won Michigan. He went well beyond swing states and into deep blue states. We should all care about these folks, just like our Muslim friends, and these folks are not. Supporting Trump because they are racist, they are supporting him because they don't feel the recovery.
DT did not win because USA is racist. Obama's massive victory in 2008 should be a testament to the fact that a vast majority of Americans are NOT racist. Trump won because a lot of these people are still hurting and they are are over the establishment of both sides. The GOP should absolutely NOT take this as a referendum, and barring a very successful first term, Trump will be incredibly vulnerable in 2020.
But that is the takeaway. The perception that mainstream pop culture and urban trends represent the majority of the USA is nonsense.
Either way, it is time to support President Trump and move forward (to 2020).

Democrats claims that Trump "hates" minorities et al are vastly overstated. Thank you. I don't support Trump regardless of how it looks, but this is true. Trump saying some illegals are rapists. Is not saying Mexican culture creates rapists. He is very divisive but he is not racist or sexist.

I really wish that Michigan, Arizona and New Hampshire would finish counting. I know Trump has won, but it would be nice to see the final popular vote and settle whether Hillary actually won the popular vote.

Yeah, sure. I'm sure the Muslims and LGBTQ and women and people of color will be "over this" by Thanksgiving. It's not like their rights are in danger!

As Donny and his reasonable, for-the-good-of-the-nation acolytes have said--maybe someone should put their second amendment rights to work? I mean, if it's okay for Donny to spew whatever he wants with no repercussions whatsoever then let's embrace this horrific new world and sprint to the inevitable civil war. Having to watch a slow march into one of these Black Mirror futures sounds too revolting, thank you.
And you are a fool if you think people will be over this by Thanksgiving. This was a scorched earth campaign (to be clear, by the republican party) that explicitly called out various subsets of American citizens with so much invective and run-of-the-mill hate you don't get to just pretend all those disgusting insults and lies were never championed as a virtue so we can all shut up and hold hands because you got what you wanted.

Re: Election Day 2016
For only the 5th time in our country's history, and 2nd time since the 1800's, the candidate with the most votes loses. The last time this happened, GWB invaded Iraq and the mess still isn't cleaned up today. Then, we inexplicably re-elected him and he went on to lead us to the worst economic recession since the Great Depression.
What will happen this time, with a Republican House, Senate, President, and Supreme Court?
I can taste bile in my throat.

Its pretty stupid people who wished for that since there you still had a 50/50 chance of one of two primary candidates becoming president

Plus, it's likely that Trump will just change his view on LGBTQ marriage so people favor him like Obama and Hillary did.

Re: Election Day 2016
Trump's policy on Muslims is to do extensive background checks on any that enter the country. He no longer plans to ban Muslims.
Does anyone know what Trumps stance on civil unions is?

Re: Election Day 2016
For all intents and purposes, Donald Trump supported same sex marriage... until a few years ago. It's just a matter of how much it takes to buy his opinion, and I'd say just becoming president is enough for him. How he sleeps at night is beyond me. If there is such a thing as hell, I hope he burns in it for the amount of pain he has and will cause. If he truly believes what he's saying, then if there's such a thing as a higher power, I pray for Trump.

I'm optimistic Trump doesn't have a problem with homosexuals, just because if he did I think it'd have been made beyond obvious by now the same way his racism and sexism has been, he has no self control hiding his bigoted feelings

Does anyone know what Trumps stance on civil unions is? Why would he background check a regular Muslim? Do we not have freedom of religion?

Re: Election Day 2016
The KKK is Christian based. Maybe we should look into them. The Nazi's are also Christian based. I assume you want all hate groups religions to be checked.
What if it's a Muslim who was born here? Are you OK with doing a background check on an American who chose a different religion than you?
