Actually they go through intensive testosterone and estrogen treatments. I have quite a few trans friends, and those who are serious about transitioning go through a rough process that does chemically and biologically change your body. If someone does it properly, you wouldn’t do it just to get a competitive advantage in sports.

I do think there does need to be strict measures on who qualifies to compete in sports if they transition as the male body and female body are not inherently equal.

They also do do that. My answer was not comprehensive. They also get many other surgeries such as facial feminization/masculinization surgery.

I prefer Islam as an example of a culture that went too far right with the crazy religious strictness, whereas communist countries that failed went too far left. I'm against any culture that goes overboard with totalitarian rules and dogma, not allowing people to step outside the groupthink ideology, censorship, trying to control population with propaganda, etc. and far left and far right are both capable of that.

Believing you are a woman doesn't make you a woman. I have empathy for people who suffer from gender dysphoria, I have met several, it's an anguish that is not easy to relieve. But I do not have empathy for people who use this to undermine others (like William/Lia Thomas using this to compete in women's competitions with a massively unfair advantage that is resulting in breaking records) or manipulate and coerce people into repeating lies. And just because I am empathetic does not mean I am going to repeat lies that are then used to coerce others and control what people are allowed to say. I have empathy for schizophrenics too, it does not mean I am going to go along with whatever delusion they think is reality.

I use to struggle with transitioned athletes competing as well, but upon further research, I have found they have not been dominating women’s sports outside of Williams, so a lot of the fear is based on prejudice and knee jerk reactions, which is understandable considering again, the male body is inherently bigger, stronger, and faster the female human body (but not always of course).

I can't pretend to care about college women's swimming results getting messed up, but it's a slippery slope until a trans woman wins Wimbledon or someone makes a mockery of the WNBA.

Furthermore there is no way to tell the difference going forward between someone who genuinely has gender dysphoria and would be turning trans even if they weren't an athlete, and a sociopath con artist who doesn't have gender dysphoria at all and is simply making the choice to be 1st ranked women's athlete instead of 475th ranked male because of money/fame/narcissism.

I think some people would do a lot for money and to be someone. I wouldn't expect many people to cut off their penis if they weren't genuine, but taking hormones for a few years, maybe.

Not sure if Lia Thomas qualifies, but if the door is opened eventually someone would walk through it, and as the signature trait left wing activists is being insatiable, most likely there will be pressure going forward to open the door more (fighting for trans to compete as soon as they come out instead of the hormonal barrier).
