Post Re: GOP 2024
Of the maybe 1 or 2 kids a day under 5 who die from covid in the US I'd venture a lot of them already had something wrong with them medically. For a healthy kid you've have to weigh the minuscule risk of them dying from covid vs chance of side effects or fact that there's test of long term effects yet vs the fact that vaccinated people seem to be getting covid all the time so it's not like you're ruling out the kid getting it. If someone comes to the conclusion after all that they should vaccinate them ok but it's far from a no brainer enough that the government should pay for it imo. DeSantis understands that people vaccinating their kids under 5 are doing it mostly based off emotion and fear porn. I say this as someone who still prefers Trump to DeSantis but I think the latter has done better on covid.

Our son is up to date on all his vaccines, why bot the latest vaccines against a current and real threat? Vaccines have been around since the 1700s, and only since the 1980s are people suddenly dumb about them

I would argue being a relatively new type of vaccine (MRNA) and being out for like a year and a half makes it different than the normal ones kids take

It’s the same thing but geared towards a different virus. The only reason it took this long is because they need to make sure it is effective against this specific virus and has less to do with how dangerous it is.

From the CDC

Among states reporting, children were 0.00%-0.32% of all COVID-19 deaths, and 1 state reported zero child deaths
In states reporting, 0.00%-0.02% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death

Eric Greitens (US Senate Candidate) calling for people to go kill/hunt RINOs by breaking into their homes, saying there's no bagging or tagging limit, in a political ad is a thing now.

Politics has gone too far. It's just gross.

I'd say the attempted assassination of Kavanaugh is an example of that

The GOP reminds me of Jason from Strangers Things season 4 right now: confused, heated, angry, and willing to lynch innocent people

"It's RINO hunting season!" was clearly intended as a pun to say they should be voted out... In ill taste, but not really that big of a deal.

It is not illegal because it is not a serious threat. However it is wildly inappropriate considering the same voting base has a history of violently reacting to similar call to arms.

Since posting this big move for Newsom up to 14 cents and ahead of Buttigieg. DeSantis also leads Trump 43-35 now.

Increasingly clear the GOP wants to at least challenge Trump, which they should. Who knows about Biden but he is easily in better standing than DT.

According to pollsters they would be neck and neck if you go by the polls on Wikipedia 2024 hypothetical election section between Trump and Biden.

Biden has historically bad approval rating for a president at this point in their first term

Unlike Trump, Biden is not popular with those who voted for him. That’s actually a problem for Trump

if losing RIGHTS for HALF of the citizens of our country don't get people (liberals/conservatives/independents) out voting blue by huge margin, than I don't know what will.

Does voting even matter anymore? Even if Roe causes a blue wave that gives the democratics a massive majority in congress, one that cannot be thwarted by a filibuster, they'd still have to get the codified Roe v Wade through the supreme court and thats never going to happen.

Plus, all Pubs have to do is go out and say things like "Jesus is good, Immigrants are bad, Trump won the election, etc..." and they'll get the same people to turn up as always. Now, their numbers are way down since anti-vaxxers are the only ones still dying from covid, but it'll still be enough.

The polls show most people in the US (like 60-65%) have somewhat middle ground view of thinking abortion should be legal but only in the first trimester. So while they disagree with Roe v Wade ruling, it's possible they have a mixed enough feeling that they can accept this decision, and the ones who are in really in rage mode were voting Democrat anyway. There are also some pro life people who are going to be more energized to vote after this to cancel out the pro choice ones.

Considering the new battleground is in the suburbs, this is bad news for the Republicans. However, I think the economy still reeling from the lockdowns is going to put the fickle minded voter on team Res

I think this is going to have enormous ramifications. This is taking away a right that people used to have. The principle is infuriating. Some moderate red states very well may see blue over performances.

We'll see. If people voted for Republicans in the past but now flip due to this that would be really dumb considering this was clearly on the agenda for the last 50 years.
