New Supreme Court nominee
Justice Stevens is retiring as has been known for a number of months. Hopefully Cass Sustein or Merrick Garland gets the nomination.

Re: New Supreme Court nominee
I think a filibuster will make the Republicans look bad. They should simply ask tough questions (which the nominee will not answer) and then vote against that person (if they so choose).
Perhaps something about the constitutionality of the health care reforms should be asked.

And he wasn't the oldest either. According to Wikipedia "The oldest person to have served on the Court was Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., who stepped down after turning 90." Stevens hasn't turned 90 yet. More stuff here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographi ... ted_States

Re: New Supreme Court nominee
Like him or not, most people agree that Justice Stevens is still one of the sharpest justices on the court and he supposedly is the only one that writes his own first drafts.
Justice Blackmun apparently did not write any of his opinions in later years; he simply cite checked them.

Hopefully she is on the same side as Justice Stevens in the confrontation clause line of cases. Otherwise, what a total .

Re: New Supreme Court nominee
I thought it funny that she refused even to pick a side in Team Jacob v. Team Edward. Though to be fair, she may not have known about them. Though she does look like the type of person who would read and become obsessed with Twilight.
