Re: Political cartoon thread!
Rick Perry really shot himself in the foot with social security. But even though his opinions are totally wrong, I think he will have the last laugh when the system collapses in a few decades (well he will be dead.) Its similar to free public health care in Canada, we fail to see how it is unsustainable. The Baby Boomers have not yet to reach the age where they need more medical care and wait times are already over 4-10 hours are common at Emergency rooms. We simply ignore the problem and then wait till a extreme crisis point and then end up with a crappy solution. This one is a bit old, but its funny.

Re: Political cartoon thread!
First Bush tried and now Obama is fighting a fire but throwing money at it. I think we all know that just makes it worse. What a flop he is.

Re: Political cartoon thread!
Sorry manny, some of us believe that it's better to try and put out a fire rather than let it burn down the house. If we don't have job creation, we're not going to be able to rein in the deficit purely through austerity measures. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/19/opini ... yt&emc=rss

Re: Political cartoon thread!
You need stability for real economic growth, rather lots of govt money. It reminds me of what happened in Canada in the 1990s. Economic growth comes from 3 main areas, the govt, consumer spending and business investment. The only area seeing growth is The government. The other two, not so well. The stimulus plan has not worked before, why would it work now. Some of you say it did work, but that is like explaining to your parents you tried your best by getting a D in grade 10 math. "At least I did not fail" My thinking is, why waste all this money to save jobs that will be cut when the money stops flowing. Jobs are being cut from the private sector. Few new jobs are being created, its mostly about saving jobs. If infrastructure/govt spending was the key to it all, Japan would be a booming economy. It is not, Japan spent an insane amount of money and all they have to show for it is 20 years of slow still economic growth. Imo I am not saying Keynesian economic theory is at fault, its the people who are implementing it. That theory relies on a govt entering a recession to have huge surpluses from economic boom times. However due to Bush's policies we were already in massive debt. So do think I am some Obama hater, I think he is not been a good President and that is a majority opinion. He is a good family man and He may be trying his best, but things are not looking good. This one makes me laugh

Rev wrote: aww I miss Steve already Political cartoonists never care what a person's religion is, though -- no matter what, if they die, they go to a Christian heaven. Jobs was a Buddhist. I remember when they did the same thing to George Carlin, an atheist, and George Harrison, a krishna. I always wonder if the family of the deceased is more insulted by these cartoons than honored.
