Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Huckabee jumped to a very early lead. And CNN already gives Obama 14 delegates and Clinton 7; that's quick with only 1% reporting.

Will DC and Maryland be closer since they can't be predicted based on exit polls?

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Huckabee leading in Virginia 51-42 with 5% reporting.
Can he actually continue to win these states in spite of pre-election polls showing him far behind McCain??

Huckabee's amazing. It would be so hilarious if he pulled this off and caught McCain. He has said he's in the business of making miracles!

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Egad. Here is The Story Of Libs Voting In The Virginia Primary:
Traffic is completely backed up everywhere around here because of the horrible weather. So, I was about ready to go drive over to the polling place at 6 pm (polls closed about 40 minutes ago at 7). The traffic was so horrible that I walked there (husband voted earlier in the day and is still stuck in traffic), in the dark, in the freezing rain and sleet, to vote.
I think I slipped like four times between going there and coming back. But I voted! For Obama! Yay!

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
And among 19% who think Huckabee is the most-likely-to-beat-democratic nominee, 98% voted for him; I salute those people for their conviction.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
I've said this all along, and let me re-iterate it now.
HUCKABEE HAS NO CHANCE OF WINNING THE NOMINATION!!!!
He never has, nothing has changed.

He never has, nothing has changed. Maybe not, but his showing in VA is not good news for McCain at all. This was an open primary, meaning independents could vote in the Republican primary. It could be a fluke, but it also could be showing that his support among independents is not as strong as it once was.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
Actually according to one exit poll I read, independents in VA broke evenly between McCain and Huckabee; that's just weird.
To be able to still hold a 2% lead with 21% reporting, that's a pretty incredible achievement for Huckabee.

The more McCain has to spend his time and money fighting Huckabee, the less money and time he uses against the Democrats. Go Huckabee! And I agree, he has no chance of getting the nomination.

MSNBC calls DC for Obama, CNN says no exit polls so they haven't.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
The CNN interactive map guy said, though, that most of the regions that Huckabee will carry in Virginia have already reported, for the most part, so while Huck will come close, looks like a win isn't going to happen.

Lame.
But, still...the fact that Huckabee got so many votes here in VA is a good sign that McCain likely isn't that iron-solid with independents.

Re: Saturday Primary and Chesapeake Tuesday
And the huge turnout for Democratic primaries just continues; it's amazing to see Clinton getting 50% more votes than McCain even though she is getting beat badly by Obama, in a generally red state nonetheless.

It's incredible. The Dems are more than doubling the Repubs. This is very good news for Dems come November.
