Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
The amount of places/people (group texts, non-political Meetup groups, other movie/TV forums, etc.) going through some kind of virtue signaling purification process since Trump won is kind of hilarious, but also rather pathetic. Many seem to like getting on their high horse to make declarations about what perspectives are allowed to be discussed (for mental health reasons, of course) while making it clear that anyone who doesn't support their particular views is a bigot/troll whose opinions will be deleted. How brave!

Fair analysis though I think Palestine and Harris herself being the weakest Democrat candidate since the 80s are huge factors.

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
I think a lot of left-leaning crypto and stock/401k investors are questioning their core political beliefs right now. Do woke values really matter more than making money?
The left hate Trump voters for woke reasons, while investors loathe anti-Trump voters for hurting their wallets.

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
I made more money under Biden than Trump on my investments. Trump tanked the economy in 2020 and will probably tank the economy again with his trade wars and high level of deportations during a time of record low unemployment. Investors will be bullish on the market for the next few months on the promise of continued tax cuts, but once the market adjusts there will be hard times ahead of us all. The crypto investors are not smart investors as they are often taken advantage of much like penny stock investors in the 1990s. The young get rich quick make voter will soon be staring at massive losses and a stock market crash within the next couple years after a bubble burst due to red hot market on empty promises much like the late 90s or late 1920s.

Trump tanked the economy in 2020? Wasn’t there a global pandemic and a forced shutdown of the economy?

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
Yes. It was poorly handled by multiple countries across the globe. It was a point in time where America’s standing as a world leader was a point of failure. In past pandemics where we took action before things got out of hand we curtailed it from getting out of hand. Trump instead tried to sweep it under the rug to pretend everything was great going into his election year much like he pushed for the bill this year that addressed immigration so that he could point out how everything was bad to run in that. Trump is all image on no substance, and in an era where people get their information from bite sized tik tok memes, he is popular with the bite sized arguments

Darth Indiana Bond wrote: Trump instead tried to sweep it under the rug to pretend everything was great That's what a dictator does. Trump, while not a dictator, does have dictator tendencies. And I believe the only reason he isn't one is because of the system within which he governs. The people have had too much power for too long, so they would not suddenly succumb to his cult of personality dreams.

I’ll be honest, the shutdowns were over done. But the lack of foresight into the virus because Trump shut down the Obama division that looked into foreign viruses solely because it was something Obama did handicapped our handling of things

Trump let the states decide on covid restrictions and he was into the vax more than a lot of his voters.

I actually think Trump’s greatest accomplishment was Warp Speed and he should get credit for that

Rubio is a bit neocon for Secretary of State but I think he wanted a Latin guy for the deporting

The Bidens hating Harris more than Trump worked out pretty well for a peaceful post election

It is refreshing. But it highlights how shittty and shameful Trump was four years ago more than anything and how big of a man Biden is

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
Trump’s first pick that has me seriously worried is Matt Gaetz as attorney general. One he is young. Two he is a pedophile. Three he is a criminal. Four he has shown he is all for fake kangaroo trials as he pushed for the fake Biden impeachment. Five he was big on the January 6th illegal election scheme.

Collins already comes out against Gaetz, it is already beginning.

You would need two more and I am not sure who would commit to that

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
Can someone explain to me how Mike Garcia and likely Michelle Steel lose their house races when they comfortably win in 2022 and 2024 was nationwide and in California a good year otherworldly for Republicans? Makes no sense.
At least the New York Republicans being ousted makes some sense since Trump wouldn’t have pulled them up the ballot as much as Zeldin.

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
One incumbents are unpopular right now
Two shifting demographics
Three Trump is popular with the low info voter that turns out for the presidential elections but not the midterms. These same voters aren’t GOP baseline voters.

Weren’t Republicans ousted from these seats in 2018 and won them back in 2020, a year less favorable to Republicans? Just bizarre

Re: 2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
Trump is more popular now than he was in 2020. Trump runs well as an anti-establishment figure and it’s hard for him to run on a message of everything is terrible, vote for me to fix it message when he is the president
