I completely understand - I've felt the same when it comes to box office predicting. Perhaps I'm just focusing on the love of movies instead of the business/analytical side now. Whatever the reason for your sabbatical, it's been great having you here. You provided perspective, knowledge, and yes, entertainment (meant in a good way). Hope to see you back one day. Bummer bro. I was hoping you just needed a month or so to recovery after Hereditary, but I guess it broke you for good. KJ will never be the same.

I thought it a joke at the time, but maybe Doc was right implying that we wouldn’t make it to the 2018 awards. KJ was a sinking ship but now its on fire too. Hopefully the numbers keep us interested enough to push forward.

Also, you gotta give one last oscar prediction atleast.

On a serious note, thank you for the contributions and for paying for the site once the old owner left. I've learned from your posts and still remember you posting goofy pics of yourself from your high school graduation party on box office fanatic. That makes me feel old as fuck.

It is indeed that time of year, sadly. Any anticipation and excitement for summer has come and gone. And comes the annual emptiness that is fall. Each passing year, it does indeed get less and less interesting.

Props to those who are still daily, active users.

As a casual poster a few forums over the years, it's been clear to me that forum communities are only temporary social filler until something better comes along in life. Comes at different times for people, but when the time comes...there is no need for such forums any more.

And for many of us vets from the glory days of 2005-2010...it's getting to that time of life.

Lecter, Libs, Zingaling, Xaiyun, Torrino, Baba, Loyal...many others who are, at best, VERY casual users like BJ, Jmovies, The Dark Shape...

I hope you find a life so engrossing that the idea of frequenting a web forum is absurd.

My jubilation turned to disappointment as I read past your "I'm out" headline to discover you didn't announce you're gay.

I’m sure this is mostly true, but I don’t think it has to be. I barely posted on here when I was yukking it up in my college dorm many years ago, this is true. But i wasn’t really seeing many movies either - mostly because of a lack of time and funds. As an adult, I’m still very interested in reviewing movies and box office results (which is like sports for movies) though. My IRL friends and family like movies too, but the conversation doesn’t usually go farther than “was it good enough for me to watch?” And good luck finding anyone who cares about the charts. Same with posting this stuff on social media, which seems to be the norm now. I like having a small, semi-anonymous community to share these things with. Now if Magnus has really lost his passion for reviewing and predicting, then I don’t blame him for being done. But I don’t think it is because he is swarming in new friends, money and bitches.

Also, everyone else who has left is welcome to come back. It’s really not a big deal, five minutes and an opinion of the weekend.

Good luck going forward. I'm sure you'll come back to make some box office posts at some point though
