Post What source material/story/idea hasn’t seen movie treatment
What historical event, legend, book, or concept has somehow not been tapped by Hollywood yet?

What's still sitting on the shelf? What’s your pick?

---------

I'll start (although I think Passion of the Christ 2 will touch on this): Themes associated with spiritual warfare, the Book of Revelation, angels vs. demons—there’s a ton of rich, untapped material in the Bible that hasn’t been fully explored on screen. The visuals alone....my goodness, and there’s so much depth in the themes of good vs. evil, prophecy, and cosmic conflict.

I always wanted to see a run of big budget greek god movies outside of the 20 Hercules attempts... like Poseidon getting his movies with the water set pieces, Hermes saving Persephone from Hades, etc.

Yes TPOTC2 (and 3 if it is split which is highly likely) – will cover the fall of the angels, possibly the Nephilim, Christs resurrection and descent into hell, the Ascension into Heaven and Pentecost etc. Then will follow on with the lives and deaths of the apostles. I’m sure with much more in between + Revelation.

Though I agree there are many more biblical and historic events and stories that haven’t been given their due on the big screen – i.e. Elijah, Solomon, the prophets, Daniel etc + not to mention Constantine, Charlemagne, early church fathers and councils (i.e. Athanasios and St Nicholas were at the same council and both have great stories incl. battles with Arius), various battles and crusades etc.

The Catcher in the Rye is the most significant work of literature to never have a film adaptation.
