Why are they doing another Hellboy reboot when fans of the series have said, over and over, that all they want is one more with Ron Perlman? We understand that GDT is busy, so put JA Bayona on it instead.

Spending 150 mil on a romcom would've been insane even by Netflix standards, so I'm sad if this is dead

The dreaded eleventh film. ;)

I'm not excited at all considering his last film. In fact, his quality has been on the slide for a few films already. Django Unchained isn't as good as Inglourious Basterds, The Hateful Eight isn't as good as Django Unchained, and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood isn't as good as The Hateful Eight. So it doesn't bode well for "The Movie Critic", especially with that boring title.

QT peaked at Inglorious IMO however Once is a great film and better than the previous two.

The Critic can go either way. Love his book on 70s cinema and this may have some of the sensibilities, but the jury is still out. I tend to think it will disappoint general audiences and not be what we all want a "final" QT film to be.

Is that Cinema Speculation? He was promoting it on one of those American late night shows, and it's definitely a book I would like to read. Glad to hear it's good.

Going with The Movie Critic over Star Trek as his final film says "I want an oscar for directing dammit!"

Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction/Jackie Brown (cool criminal movies)
Kill Bill Vol 1/Kill Bill Vol 2/Death Proof (grindhouse/B movie inspired)
Inglorious/Django/Hateful Eight (period piece)

This would be the second movie in his "Hollywood" era, therefore he needs to make one more.

I don't get his hang up with ten films, to be honest. If he made twelve, is it such a damning figure? Twelve is just as tidy as ten, and besides he's already made ten. The Critic will be his eleventh.

And lol, there's no way he could do a Star Trek movie, let alone it be his final movie. It would stick out in his oeuvre like a sore thumb.

Yeah - I'm hoping he's actually over his 10-film obsession and it's just the media beating this up.

Yes Cinema Speculation.

I've only read about 50 pages but it's essentially QT talking about how he went to see films at an early age with his mother and her boyfriend before he launches into chapters on specific films such as Dirty Harry, Bullit, Deliverance etc.

I enjoy his informed and enthusiastic take on films of that era.

His imdb has an amateur film nobody counts (My Best Friend's Birthday), multiple movies where he does a segment (Four Rooms and Death Proof) and a movie split into two (Kill Bill) so his 10 movie idea is already muddled.

Death Proof is already part of his ten. Even he knows that. But yeah, nobody includes Four Rooms, though maybe that's fair. He's also written a few, such as From Dusk Till Dawn. But the crux seems to be Kill Bill splitting into two films then suddenly being touted as one when it suits his ten-film-career desires. I can't get behind this. They came out as two films, and they weren't even released in the same damn year. They're totally 100% two films. You can't call The Lord of the Rings trilogy one film even if they follow on from one another.

Paramount Pictures has preemptively acquired a remake of the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock-directed psychological thriller Vertigo, with Robert Downey Jr eyeing the James Stewart lead role of the former police detective forced to retire after a line of duty trauma that leaves him with fear of heights and vertigo. The script will be written by Steven Knight, the See and Peaky Blinders creator who just signed on to write a Star Wars film.

Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox are producing with Team Downey’s Robert and Susan Downey.

One of the worst ideas ever. RDJ should rather consider coming back as Tony Stark from another universe.

I quite like the idea actually. I don't like RDJ in the role, but he will probably make it his own and separate it in people's minds from the Stewart original.

Things go from bad to worse for Marvel. While this may mean nothing long term - it certainly is not good considering he plays the big bad for the current phases.

Quote:
Creed III actor Jonathan Majors has been arrested on strangulation, assault and harassment charges.

The New York Police Department said Mr Majors, who stars alongside Michael B Jordan in the recently released film, was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman on Saturday.

"The victim informed police she was assaulted," a police spokesperson said.

Mr Majors was briefly taken into custody. A lawyer for the 33-year-old actor denied any wrongdoing.

The NYPD said they were called around 11:14 local time after receiving a 911 call from an apartment in Manhattan's Chelsea district.

They added the woman suffered minor head and neck injuries and was taken to hospital.

He was released from custody by Saturday night, an NYPD spokesperson told the Associated Press news agency.

In a statement obtained by the BBC, Mr Majors' lawyer said the actor was "completely innocent" and alleged the star was the victim of the altercation involving a woman known to him.

Priya Chaudhry said: "We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.

"This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.

"All the evidence proves that Mr Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever."

Mr Majors' arrest comes just weeks after the actor presented an award at the Oscars.

His career took off after breaking through in 2019's The Last Black Man in San Francisco, before going onto to star in Netflix western The Harder They Fall and Marvel Comics film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Mr Majors plays Jordan's adversary in Creed III, a boxing film released earlier this month.

Kind of annoying that the effort and time in The Rock's schedule that would've gone into Moana 2 is now going to spent on a cash grab.
