I can't deny he's a talented filmmaker (with the occasional misstep) but he seems awfully despicable as a human being. Is this what he wants attention for? Because it's not going to do him any favors. Yes it gets press, but he can't honestly think it's going to make people want to see his films. I feel sorry for the cast who had to be sitting there while he spewed this crap.

Never make a holocaust joke. Even if it's a non offensive joke, people will get offended simply because it's a holocaust joke.

Absurd. To be fair this was an event directly connected to Cannes whereas Polanski's has no connection, so for them to take action here and not there kind of makes sense. Having said that, the fact that they would ban him merely for something that was obviously and blatantly just bad humor is flat out offensive. And the fact that people are talking about this as if he may have been serious is no longer funny but just idiotic. It is astonishingly clear from the language he doesn't mean any of it so anyone who is "offended" is just a real fucking moron.
