Post The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover
I just watched it and immediately thought of you guys.

Anyone seen it? I'm REALLLY curious to hear what you all think. I'm still trying to make sense of it but for some reason, I think it's right up some your alleys. The one film it kinda reminded me of (in no particular way) was The Discreet Charm...

Disclaimer: it may be quite disturbing to some but I'd recommend it to any regular here. ;)

That's the film where Helen Mirren is nude a lot of the time, right? :P

Let's just say I haven't seen the entire movie, only some bits, lol. Seemed very weird.

If you haven't seen the ending, you haven't really seen it. ;)

But yeah, it's a trip.

It's one of my favorite movies of all time. Greenaway is a genius.

It's been in my top 5 films to see for years. Supposed to come out on Criterion sometime. Can't wait to finally see it.

I remember something about this movie.

There was a big debate whether the X-rated version would get a wide release. I forget if theyjust released it as a non-rated movie.

Yeah. I think I was 2 years old then but that's apparently what happened when I read a synopsis of it. I think they released it unrated. Not 100% sure though.

Really? I hadn't heard this before...

If this actually happens, I could probably die happy.

That's very exciting. If they Blu-Ray it, that could push me to finally breakdown and get a player.

I'm also a big Greenaway fan from back in the day (though I haven't kept up on his career after those earlier films from the 80's) - - I haven't seen TCTTHWAHL since it's initial release - - but when I did, it blew away. Greenaway's delicious perversity almost makes David Lynch look straightforward...
