Post Indie Movie Club- Sophie Scholl: The Final Days
By quite a margin, you guys have selected Sophie Scholl: The Final Days as the next film in this series!

2005 Academy Award Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, Sophie Scholl - The Final Days is the true story of Germany's most famous anti-Nazi heroine brought to thrilling dramatic life. Sophie Scholl stars Julia Jentsch in a luminous performance as the fearless activist of the underground student resistance group, The White Rose. Armed with long-buried historical records of her incarceration, director Marc Rothemund expertly re-creates the last six days of Sophie Scholl's life: a heart-stopping journey from arrest to interrogation, trial and sentence in 1943 Munich. Unwavering in her convictions and loyalty to her comrades, her cross-examination by the Gestapo quickly escalates into a searing test of wills as Scholl delivers a passionate call to freedom and personal responsibility that is both haunting and timeless.

I have not seen the film, so I have nothing to say about it for the time being. But I'll get to it as soon as possible!

I probably should. Just because I have the dumbest reason why I don't want to see this movie. It's Sophie Scholl. I have no idea who she was, but her name sounds soooo irritating. :funny:

I'm going to practice listening to German when I watch it. That's pretty much why I voted for it, although I have heard it is a good movie from Lect and others, too.

Haha. You should give it a try!!

I'm sorry I have been a terrible host, but life's been a bit on the hectic side lately. I will still definitely see it but possibly not til the end of the week. How are the rest of you guys doing with it? :er:

Hehe I'd hate to see this thread die. So until I see it maybe someone could be kind enough to lead the discussion on the film. Dr. Lecter??

As a companion piece try to watch also DIE WEISSE ROSE (The White Rose) from 1982. It's about the same story.

I hated this movie. It's so poorly written and directed. The weak performances don't help either.
