If anyone can make it to the festival, please watch Severance. It's so much fun.

its hard to get tickets for bigger movies and i live quite far away. This festival is massive and it will likely grow into the world big film festival in a couple of years. The oscar race starts here, that the offical word.
So nice it happen in my city.

Some of the showings are at the Isabel Bader Theatre. I had two classes in that theatre :D One of them was philosophy though, so it's a love-hate relationship.

Last year I saw matthew perry and David Carradine on Bloor Street. :)

My friend worked at one of the main venues as a janitor and he saw so many celebs. HIs favourite being Kevin Spacey. He stopped working there though.

I think I may try to stalk ziyi zhang.

Neo? Do you think you're going to catch an early screening of one or two of these yet-to-be-released movies? If its anything like Tribeca, you can just pre-purchase one ticket as you would normally, only through the film festival site/boxx office rather than usual ticket vendors.

Which one, if any, would you want to catch most?

I'm dying to see The Fountain, and Lecter is 2/2 for recommendations so I'll try to see Severance as well. I'm not too familiar with 99% of the movies. So tomorrow when tickets go on sale, if they're not too expensive and if i could get the tickets i'll try to see some of the more known ones. Like Little Children. I highly doubt I can score any tickets for Babel. And if I went to see it it'd be more for the hype than interest, bc the teaser didn't do much for me.

How much were the tribeca tickets? were they expensive?

Nah, two dollars more than a normal ticket here, or, 12.50 a ticket. That was for regular screenings however. There were some special ones that were twenty, and symposiums I wanted to go to but was unable to attend. Those leaned towards 20 as well if my memory serves me right. Volver looks great, and While I don't think I would be that into Paris Je t'aime, its certainly going to be one of the only popular feature length films comprised of shorts....ever. King of Scotland, I just saw the trailer, looks very good too. In general this is a fantastic line-up.

Whats stopping ya. Seize the day and get you're ass over there. Tell work you have ebola and you can't come in for a few days until you're organs are un-liquified.

I'm not sure Baba, I've only looked at the schedule for like 3 of the movies. One is Thursday morning which i have off, and the other ones are monday and wednesday night which i have off school and work as well.

Hmm.. I'm really going to try to do get tickets. And thanks for the suggestions Galia :D I have to do some research. This will be my first time attending a film festival. I'm excited for tomorrow. And i get to see little miss sunshine tomorrow as well with my friend. :D

How come? Isn't it out in the US before years end?

Yeah, in a handful of cities. I'm hoping it comes here. I live in a medium sized metro of about 2.7m. A bit on the conservative side and thus less likely to attract independent films.

I know how you feel I live in the country and I'd say the closest cinema I'll get that shows Little Miss Sunshine will be 100 miles away.

Volver has only got a Dublin city release which is a 200 mile drive. To much unfortunately.

That's pretty much how far I'd have to drive to see Volver (Miami), baring some freakish event where one of the indie theaters picks it up on chance. So far, no word. I don't think my theater will get it, the main indie theater just closed, and the other has only one screen (it is quite old) and has the most unpredictable tastes in film, though they will be showing Science of Sleep soon.

Fuck! Tickets so far for the biggies are costing $40. That's expensive. :( This may limit my number of movies seen to 1. Lol. I hate being poor :( I just bough a laptop which doesnt help at all. But i'm dying to see The Fountain. And I also want to experience the Film Festiva. I've been living here for 17 years and have yet to go.

Movies that I can buy tickets for so far:

After the Wedding
Black Book
Mon Meilleure Ami
The White Planet

Unless i'm reading this wrong, they have some advanced tickets for Babel, Volver and All the King's Men. (but it says check back later time.

I was hoping they'd be for sale at 12am.. it is September 6.
