Running With Scissors Looks Golden
Running With Scissors Cast : Annette Bening, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gabrielle Union
Director : Ryan Murphy
Running With Scissors Written By :Ryan Murphy
Producers :
Other Known Crew Members :
Running With Scissors Based On :novel by Augusten Burroughs
Premise/Synopsis : The true story of a boy whose mother (a poet with delusions of Anne Sexton) gave him away to be raised by her unorthodox psychiatrist who bore a striking resemblance to Santa Claus. So at the age of twelve, Burroughs found himself amidst Victorian squalor living with the doctor's bizarre family, and befriending a pedophile who resided in the backyard shed. The story of an outlaw childhood where rules were unheard of, and the Christmas tree stayed up all year round, where Valium was consumed like candy, and if things got dull an electroshock- therapy machine could provide entertainment.
<3 the trailer.

I build a really, really cool standee for this movie today. It has the character's faced on three metallic (looking) poles that sort of pivot. On two sides are pictures, on another, the logo, and the other a funny quote from the character. It is topped by this sort of cornice. Very unique...
Thought I would share. This is my most anticipated.
In other news, I quite my job today.
This belongs in the pube.
But still. I <3 RWS

Saw the trailer for the third or fourth time today and still cannot contain my excitment.
Hopefully this will live up to my expectations.

Hehe, it doesn't! I'm trying going to see if they will welcome me back for part time help during the winter rush, as I have skills. Otherwise, I will be welcome as a patron and will keep on top of news and stuff, for [b]us[b]

The book is fantastic by the way. I'm almost done and it is almost impossible to put down.
Though there are a few things in the trailer that concern me ... for example one of the best scenes in the book involves the whole "skylight" incident and lets say the book version is way better.

The early words are quite bad.

Really not surprising. I'm really concerned that the film won't be able to capture the magic of the book without coming off as completely unrealistic. And there is so much material it could be lost plot wise. The narrative of the book wanders back and forth across itself throughout which is what is so great. That's going to be impossible in the film.

Hmm.
We were talking about this at work today.
Yeah.
As were we last night.
'Nuff said about this being accepted. It isn't. It can't be. Not sure how they can translate it to the big screen, but I'm excited nonetheless.
And yup, I've been aware of the, erm, darker themes at play here for quite some time.

I'm not sure I disliked it... didn't love it... didn't hate it.
As I touched upon in the review thread, this really strikes close to home (surprisingly, the fact that Augusten is gay has very little to do with my feelings), making it hard to assign a grade to. As a film, it wasn't exceptional in any sense, but as a story strikingly similar to my own (some insightful points were made by director/writer Murphy - points that I have been considering since leaving the theatre and have had an almost profound effect on me)... it excels.
Mixed bag. I wouldn't be surprised if most didn't get as much out of it as I did.

According to imdb, Patrick Wilson was in this. Anyone care to point him out? I can't say I remember him.
