I've been seeing a few high-quality Australian films lately. JINDABYNE with Laura Linney and Gabriel Byrne and Rolf De Heer's TEN CANOES.

I'm catching Confetti this weekend. Hopefully Feast as well.

I blindbought the Proposition.

Haven't watched it yet.

We're supposed to be getting Confetti were I work(ed). I mean, I gave notice, but I'm finishing up the next two weeks for them...hope to see it.

I watched Feast last night and had lined up Confetti and Half Nelson for today. I picked up my tickets this afternoon and was on my way into the cinema when I was stopped. Apparently some film called Carolina Panther was playing in the 1230 slot for Confetti. I had no idea what Carolina Panther was. It was later explained to me its an NFL team and they were running the game in the theatre instead of Confetti.

So I watched The Oh in Ohio in its place. Not bad, bit over the top but Posey and Rudd are so fuckin' cute so it all works. And Half Nelson managed to knock Little Miss Sushine out of the #1 spot.

I hope to see Confetti either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Ahhh I really need to see Half Nelson. I love me some Ryan Gosling.

Caught Confetti today. I quite enjoyed it, though it didn't put enough mock in the mockumentary. I've seen wackier antics on the WE's network Bridezilla.

I flipped when I heard it was playing in Greensboro North Carolina of all markets. 12:50 tomorrow afternoon. It so seems my type of film. Trailer looks great.

If Tampa gets it, then fellow second rate Southern cities can get it.

Wait, isn't Greensboro, like, fourth rate? Heh.

The Science of Sleep has gotten under my skin (in an oh so good way).

I gave it an A+, only the ninth such grade given out this year.

And Gael and his exgirlfriend Nat (Portman) and I are all going to move in together and sell organic cookies and volunteer in Harlem.

I can't help it if I'm seeing a lot great films. If it helps, I've given out two D's over the past 24 hours.

It doesn't. Giving so many A+ implies perfect films that are something special. Having 10+ perfect films each year defies the definition of perfect IMO.

It's all opinion. I still think after seeing over a 100 films (which will be the total by years end), I'm a pretty lucky guy to have seen 10% that were masterpieces in their respective genres.

Looking forward to seeing Shortbus the week after next.

My infection is being slowed due to the lack of indie theatres. Infamous was the last film I watched that qualified.

I caught both Half Nelson and Science of Sleep this weekend.

Half Nelson is one of those films that creeps into your marrow, and you find yourself thinking/talking about it far more than you ever expected after initially seeing it. I loved it. Gosling is amazing, too.

Science of Sleep was disappointing, though.

Very uneven, I thought.

Nelson's still my second favorite movie of the year, though I have to admit since stopping to do main site reviews I've slacked on hitting up the theatres. I can't believe its still in release, its lucky you saw it before it left theatres makeshift, and I'm glad you really liked it as well.

Wow, I didn't even know you had seen it! Yeah, it's pretty fantastic. It manages to take a fairly cliche idea and turn it into something that feels so alive and original. Even though you've seen a lot of stuff similar to it, you're never sure where it's going. Gosling is simply unbelievable, too.

Yeah, I've been lucking out with the local arthouse here lately. They're getting Babel and Shortbus next weekend. I'm very excited for both of those, so...
