The Venice Film Festival 2006
I'm usually not one for this forum, but seriously...
Films debuting at this festival:
Hollywoodland
The Black Dahlia
The Children of Men
Bobby
The Fountain
With a bunch more lesser known films as well of course, there's 21 in all. This is a KJ wet dream, I mean seriously. The cream of the already heralded fall lineup, all premiering in one place. Of course it's in Venice which is far away from here, but still, it's pretty sweet. August 30th - Sept. 9th, man if if I was an adult living in Italy, I'd give my left testicle to go to this.
Dunno about an offical website, but here's a link about it and listing the films: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,205970,00.html

Inland Empire (David Lynch's new film) is premiering, too. I can't wait.

Johnnie To is awesome! He can got to two major film festivals in one years. (Johnnie To's ELECTION 2 was in "Out of COmpetition" section of 2006 Cannes Film Festival)

A couple of days to go. Can't wait to hear reviews on The Black Dahlia, Bobby, Children of Men, and The Fountain.

Ok, so it seems like the reception for Black Dahlia was been ok to decent, it's not a trashed film, but it isn't getting raves either.
Tomorrow is a decent day, there's Hollywoodland which will get a bit more reaction, The US vs John Lennon, and Infamous. The most full day of them all.
Here's the schedule
http://www.labiennale.org/en/cinema/festival/calendar/
Sept. 1st has just unknowns, foreign films. Sept. 2nd has The Queen, which should detail Mirren's Best Actress chances. Then Sept. 3rd is The Children of Men, 4th is The Fountain, 5th is Bobby, and the 6th is Lynch's tribute with Inland Empire debuting as well.
