While I don't disagree...she is also a very good actress.

I really hope Only Murders in the building gets some big wins. The Emmys were a joke this year

Weak showing for EEAAO if it's going to win Picture. Losing to Fabelmans would be one thing but Banshees was beatable.

Dream is probably over for Fraser. Williams maybe can still turn it around if Fabelmans ends up BP?

I had no idea this was on today. I thought it was on this weekend. Wonder how ratings will be. Midweek award shows are very easy to forget.

The SAGs live telecast has been cancelled. Can blame Zaslev for that, but if Globes ratings tanked this year as expected with a midweek show after a year off and with box office smashes like The Fabelmans and The Banshees of Inshirin leading the way, I wonder if it will go on much longer on TV. Maybe it should just be on Apple or Amazon or something.

Oh, this happened. I had no idea. Did they not even advertise it? Anyway...

So it seems like The Fabelmans, The Banshees of Inisherin, and Everything Everywhere All At Once will be the major winners this award season. But then it's not always the case that the Globes are in sync with the rest of the awards boards.

It would be nice if Top Gun: Maverick, The Menu, and Avatar: The Way of Water win a top award over the next few months.

I didn't see any advertising for it, TV nor online. And why on a Tuesday? Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't they usually on Sundays?

I didn't see them trending last night either, or if they were, it must have been down the list.

Maybe they wanted reasons for underperformance, whether that's ratings, virality, or even celebrity attendance, so they put it on a weekday and kept it on the down low.

But from what I've seen the show looks to have picked up from where it left off a couple of years ago. I don't think the host went down too well, though.

I'm still quite skeptical that Fabelmans or Banshees beats EEAAO for the Oscar. Just way too white of them.

Most likely upset here to transfer to the Oscars is Angela Basset, since that would actually give them diversity.

I don't read too much into the Globes for what might happen at the Oscars. The Academy are way further down the toilet in terms of white guilt and forced diversity, so there's kind of no way The Fabelmans and Banshees wins all the big awards and only Bassett wins Best Supporting Actress. Everything will be there or thereabouts. I expect Till and The Woman King to make more noise, too.

Fraser should still be fine. I mean were the GG going to award him after the head of their org assaulted him and bring more bad attention to how sketchy their org is?

Also, apparently Netflix will be airing the SAG awards?! Probably was a lucrative arrangement and will significantly increase viewership. There's a serious chance more people could watch a Netflix branded SAG than an ABC broadcast TV Oscars in a few years. Very interesting move Netflix is making into live events which start in March with Chris Rock's live special.

Colin Farrell is winning most likely, but Fraser still has a better shot at the Oscar than Butler.

Yeah, I would still bet on Fraser winning Best Actor.

The Golden Globes are getting cutting edge this year. Adding box office and stand up categories. :funny:

This award is going to be so easy for streamers to buy since there is so much murkiness in those numbers. Otherwise it's pandering to populist fair to get people to show up. Don't combine the streamers and theatrical though, seems a recipe for disaster since even the big studios haven't figured it out yet how to equate streaming with box office.

Quote:
Cinematic and Box Office Achievement
The Cinematic and Box Office Achievement includes nominees from the year’s most acclaimed, highest-earning and/or most viewed films that have garnered extensive global audience support and attained cinematic excellence.

Quote:
Motion pictures are eligible for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award if they achieve a box office receipt total/gross of $150 million, of which $100 million must come from the U.S. domestic box office, and/or obtain commensurate digital streaming viewership recognized by trusted industry sources.
