Actress (haven't seen Night House) and Picture picks in particular are legit. I'm still kinda indifferent on AQP though, I can't believe the first one won BP here years ago lol |

Pretty great nominations as usual. We have such good taste. Krasinski should have been nominated for Director but honestly my personal pick for Director this year was definitely Ducournau. Not even my favorite movie but she did one hell of a job. Honestly deserved a bunch of technical nominations too but with nominations this great I can't even complain. I am however disappointed I hadn't seen Power of the Dog yet. I've been waiting to see it in a theater as that seems like the best place to watch it but I won't be able to do that until Oscar weekend I don't think. I feel like I would have nominated it a lot. Shocked it got no nominations. Damn. So glad we didn't nominate Lady Gaga. The Riley Keough nomination makes me so fucking happy. Do we not do "Most Overlooked" anymore? |

Suicide Squad got almost all the big nominations. Would have liked to see editing and actor too, but writing, direction, suppt actress and both ensembles means it has a decent chance to take it all. Very random choices in a few though. I knew Worst Person was gaining steam but didn't think enough people had seen it. I'll watch it if it comes to streaming before the deadline. I can only assume Last Duel's surge was lead by stuffp. Guess I'll watch that one too. And didnt realize we had such a big CODA fanbase. |

Woah just noticed that Dune missed all the big categories. Oh well, one less contender. |

Wow, no Dune in BP (or director) even with 10 nominees. Yay that French Dispatch and Last Night in Soho got in so many technicals. I see a few nominations that I forgot to consider for in my ballot that I may end up voting for, glad they got nominated. |

Haven't seen Coda yet but I liked all of the BP nominees more than Dune... except maybe AQP2. |

Licorice Pizza and CODA are incredibly standard coming of age stories and I have no idea why they have awards buzz beyond deaf representation and Paul Thomas Anderson |

I put Dune tenth on my list cause I figured it would get in easy. Guessing everybody went that route lol. I had Denis second though, so am very surprised he missed for Ridley and the Titane girl. Licorice Pizza and Worst Person were obviously the main benefactors from the deadline expansion. Major props to all of us for not nominating shitty shitty shit movies like Power of the Dog and Don't Look Up just cause the oscars told us to. |

It's interesting that Encanto got in when Frozen and Moana did not, as far as I can remember. Benefitted from the overall weak field |

I found the directing extremely impressive but didn't love the movie as a whole. I definitely dug it though and there's tons of great things about it. I certainly nominated it for a lot. |

zwackerm wrote: Dune is absolutely better than CODA and Licorice Pizza lol, our taste is silly I feel like those movies are easier to be passionate about than something like Dune. CODA is a total crowd-pleaser and I'd love more movies like Licorice Pizza. There are tons of coming-of-age films but not many replicate the cool vibe of this movie. Though the star-making turns by Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman are absolutely what carry the film. They're so much fun to watch. I'm certainly shocked Dune didn't make it though. I wouldn't have thought that would/could happen. I figured the film and Villeneuve were locks. But it maybe didn't help it's not a complete story yet. I had Licorice Pizza at #1 and CODA at #2 on my list. To be fair I thought it was kind of a weak year in that there wasn't anything I was extremely passionate about. Nothing like last year with Promising Young Woman which has possibly become my second favorite movie of all-time after seeing it 11 times . My #1 movie of 2021 is technically A Quiet Place 2 but I think I had that at #4 on my list because it was going to be one of the few movies people saw in 2021. Was many people's first movie back in theaters in a while. I figured it would get in no problem so I didn't NEED to have it at #1. Though this thinking kind of backfired with Don't Look Up. I thought that would get in pretty easy and I placed it at #10 but in reality it would have been higher. I also didn't bother including Disney fare like Jungle Cruise or Cruella in my top 10 though Jungle Cruise would have made it and Cruella might have. At one point it was like #9 or #10. I just didn't care that much about them being nominated. Would rather prop up movies I was more passionate about. Plus having them in my top 10 is kind of embarrassing and I'm confident they won't be there once I see some of the acclaimed movies I've missed. But anyway I don't really think our taste is silly. It perfectly represents everyone. There's plenty of mainstream and indie films nominated. I haven't seen Dune yet but it does seem a bit crazy the director of Spider-Man got in over Denis Villeneuve. John Krasinski should have made it in over him too. Our Actress line-up is insanely amazing though. What a perfect crop. Though Chastain should have been there. I didn't include her because I had like 7 I really wanted to include and she was the only one I figured was a sure-thing to be nominated so I didn't include her. But there's nobody I would have wanted to take out of my 5 so it's whatever. |

Spoiler: show You got to see a cut of Last Night in Soho with Mackenzie Davis in the lead? I wonder if anyone voted for Thomasin McKenzie and she was really close to getting in but you accidentally voted for Mackenzie Davis and that kept her from making it. |
