I don't see many surprises other than the predictable Stewart snub. Director does something weird like nominate the Titane girl or McKay. Affleck or Plemons gets into Supporting Actor.

Post Re: ***OSCAR PREDICTIONS***
Actress is a tough one to predict this year. I could be safe and predict all of the front-runners but I think that category is ripe for surprises. It's weird not predicting Kristen Stewart but as much as I think she deserves to be nominated I believe she's lost a lot of steam lately. I don't think she's that loved amongst industry peers. There's still a good chance she'll make it in but I have a feeling she'll get snubbed.

Olivia Colman has also missed basically nowhere and the Academy loves her but the film and her character are kind of polarizing. I had her in until the last minute. It's wishful thinking but I just feel like Renate Reinsve can get in. The Worst Person in the World is getting in in International Film and I don't see anyone who saw it and nominated it for that not also having her on their ballot in Actress. Most likely placing her very high. If enough do I think she can squeak in.

Alana Haim has made it in almost everywhere. She's an exciting new talent and it's a great screen debut. I think plenty of people are passionate enough about her that she's close to safe.

This category is most definitely going to have a surprise nomination/snub or two. One of the snubs should be Lady Gaga but I don't see her missing :P. Also while Kidman is very good in Being the Ricardos I don't think it's one of her best performances and the movie is pretty mediocre. I wouldn't be upset if she were snubbed. It's very unlikely but could potentially happen. Also in a mediocre movie is Chastain but she's so fantastic in it. She deserves to be in. But her being snubbed is certainly a possibility too.

Definitely nervous for the announcement of this category.

In Actor I know Cooper Hoffman is a huge long-shot and I should be predicting Peter Dinklage or Leonardo DiCaprio instead. They'd be much safer bets. But I see Licorice Pizza getting a lot of love overall and he's very good in it. I feel like he could be brought along for the ride. However I wouldn't be predicting this if it weren't for his dad. He was very well-respected and beloved in the industry and I think that could be a contributing factor. I'll probably be wrong but I'd love to see it happen.

Hard to get excited this year. I need at least Dune and Kristen to root for if I'm gonna watch the show.

Well Dune will probably be the most nominated. If it gets everything I'm predicting it would have 11 nominations. The Power of the Dog probably in second with 9.

I forgot there's a guaranteed 10 so something other than Power of the Dog/Belfast/WSS/Dune/Licorice Pizza/King Richard/tick tick boom/Don't Look Up/CODA has to get in. I'm gonna say The Worst Person in the World.

That would be absolutely amazing. It's most likely Drive My Car. That will probably be the international film that breaks out into more categories. Some think Being the Ricardos will get the 10th slot. I'm hoping it doesn't. Though I can really see J.K. Simmons being nominated for Supporting Actor for that movie. I have been so tempted to include him.

They’re already announcing every category including the shorts and just spent 5 minutes interviewing this random fan :disgust:

I wish Ansel had gotten in for West Side Story but I’m very happy K. Stew’s in! Really hoping she takes it home knock on wood
