Post Oscar Ceremony and Deadline delayed.
The shows new date: April 25 2021

New Deadline: February 28 2021

Aww I wanted the oscars to be silly this year with all sorts of movies that would have never stood a chance otherwise.

It's going to be slim pickings anyway. This may provide a good excuse to restrict BP to five nominees again.

I still think Anya Taylor Joy is coming for that Best Actress Oscar for Emma.

This is a good move. I do think the will be movies in fall or Oscar bait movies will release via VOD where they will be more profitable.

Nomadland seems to be the first serious contender seemed to have emerged.

So what's gonna be the big winner? there's literally nothing coming out.

The Invisible Man for everything?

Still too early I guess Netflix should release something that will qualify. I'm sure of that

Netflix just released the trailer for David Fincher's Mank, a black and white movie starring Gary Oldman about old-timey Hollywood. That will certainly be a contender.

But Spike Lee and Da 5 Bloods have to be the favorites considering all that has happened this year what with the stand against racial injustice and the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

Da 5 Bloods
Mank
Nomadland
The Invisible Man
Soul

Should all be locks and might have even made it in a normal year. Won't be hard to fill the other five spots. Go Palm Springs (not likely though.)

This year will be the saddest. I agree they might just award Spike and call it a day.

News of the World had ads during all the big sports events today. That is probably #6.

Will Glen Close get the Oscar this year?

I can't remember the last time I was less excited about the awards season contenders. The only thing I'm highly anticipating is Promising Young Woman. Carey Mulligan better be nominated for that. After her first nomination she's been consistently ignored for great performances. Seems like it's finally her time to get nominated again. Her performance in PYW is certainly one of the most buzzed about female performances this year. Might be a bit too edgy for the Academy but hopefully not.
