Re: Oscar Nominations
Lighthouse getting in Cinematography is great but Willem Dafoe really deserved a nom.

LOL how did Frozen 2 miss the nomination for Best Animation? Missing Link is good and all but its criminally overrated.

Re: Oscar Nominations
Editing is a bit of a miss when you consider JoJo and The Irishman both made it but OUATIH did not.
Hoping Ford V Ferrari can at least win one of the "Sound" categories (while 1917 probably gets the other). Super happy it received a BP nod even though Bale was overlooked.

Re: Oscar Nominations
The four acting winners seem set (especially Phoenix, Dern and Pitt) but is Zelwegger a little vulnerable?

Re: Oscar Nominations
I'm thinking ScarJo has a chance to win either of her categories. Not a huge chance and the double noms may be a detriment but idk.

Re: Oscar Nominations
Frozen 2 missing hopefully means they'll try harder with a better story for 3.

Frozen 2 was better than Toy Story 4, at least they actually tried whereas Toy Story 4 was completely safe and in Pixar's usual wheelhouse

Re: Oscar Nominations
ScarJo has a better chance for Supporting imo. Marriage Story faded while there's a world where JoJo Green Books this and the momentum leads to an actor win especially with ScarJo being soup de jour and a hot actress they'd love to have up there accepting

Mister Ecks wrote: People need to stop blurring two arguments. The industry needs to have more female director representation at the movies, not just nominate the only viable female option (Greta Gerwig). Because as far as I can tell, she was the only possible nominee.
That said, it should be pointed out how much she is snubbed for the category. This isn't the first time I've heard the female director argument and she's the name people say missed out. She's getting snubbed, while simultaneously, we need more films directed by women. If she was snubbed, who should she have replaced?

Re: Oscar Nominations
I’m all for the Joker love even if I found the movie overrated, but not for Todd Phillips.
