I don't see how you all can say Ray is being hurt by these awards when it got awarded in the same categories as Rwanda and unlike Rwanda is actually winning some of these smaller critic awards. Not unanimously, but it is still showing up. That it shows up against Sideways in some of these awards is turning out to be somewhat of a miracle.
Does nobody have an opinion about what I posted about the potential Best Actor winner (and he probably is the most likely canidate at this stage to win) getting his picture nominated?
In my opinion, you all are relying too heavily on the "importance" of Hotel Rwanda, when it is obviously clear that the Academy doesn't always bend that way towards awarding "important" films. City of God over Seabiscuit anyone?
I can easily say, to counter that, that Ray has a sentimentality to it that also appeals to the Academy.
We do pretty much know that Rwanda or Ray will not win the Golden Globe best picture.
