Maybe it's because of the ensemble nature of the cast. She is being campaigned as lead, however.

Kim Basinger!

Sharon Warren seems to be building some buzz for Ray. Seems like she's separating herself from the pack of supporting actresses candidates in Ray.

Oh, I was wondering what movie Sharren Warren was from.

Kim Basinger was a surprise, but Door in the Floor is still too small for Jeff Bridge and Basinger to get nominated.

Also House of Flying Daggers is taking over the best foreign language film race.

Ray is the only movie she's ever appeared in! If Ray gets a best picture nomination, she could get nominated also.

What film was leading before?

I think Bridges best shot was from LAFC. Since he didn't get that, I don't think he has much of a chance for an Oscar nom.

And there's some strong competition in that category this year.

Looks like House of Flying Daggers will end up getting quite a couple of noms at the Oscars...

Definitely. It's just that HOFD seems to become the most visible one.

I am surprised about the HOFD appreciation...I mean the critics at RT and the IMDB folks see it differently it seems....

Probably only technical, but it may get a Director nod. Unlikely, though.

Once again, great for Sideways! If only a studio BESIDES FOX Searchlight was releasing it...

Universal critical acclaim certainly helped Lost In Translation last year. Many have been saying it, but Sideways will be 'this year's Lost In Translation'.

I'd both love to see it win and hate to see it win. I despise Rupert Murdoch.

I thought The Sea Inside would be a much stronger canidate.

Good mention for Touching the Void.

A good amount of love for Million Dollar Baby, but I would think it would have to do even better at critics awards if it is going to be a real threat to The Aviator.
