Black Adam
Quote: Black Adam is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo., it is a spin-off from Shazam! (2019) and the 11th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, the film stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular character alongside Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.
Black Adam had its world premiere in Mexico City on October 3, 2022, and was released in the United States on October 21, 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film was released in several countries on October 20, a day earlier than its domestic release.

Re: Black Adam
This is pretty mediocre, though at the very least it wasn't boring. The Rock is not a good fit for Black Adam, who I found to be a very underdeveloped and unlikable character. He's completely humorless. The other characters in the movie provide some levity, but none of them have enough to do for us to care about them. The JSA should not be in this movie, at least not all of them. The only character I liked was Doctor Fate, but he still has little to do and Brosnan is the main reason he's likable. But of course they The movie is pretty but not prettier than other cgi laden superhero blockbusters. And the villain at the end should not be in the movie.

Ooof. Sadly not very good. Black Adam is such a bland character more thanks to the script as opposed to the Rock I suppose.

Re: Black Adam
I went in with low expectations and actually was surprised how much I liked this. When all else fails pump the audience full of bad ass action. Didn't really care about the story. I'd be more interested in a few spin offs for the JSA than a Balck Adam sequel though. Loved Hawkman and Dr Fate
My Rank of the DCEU
1. Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice UE 2. Man of Steel 3. Wonder Woman 4. Aquaman 5. Justice League ZSC 6. Black Adam 7. Suicide Squad 8. Shazam! 9. Wonder Woman 1984 10. The Suicide Squad 11. Peacemaker 12. Birds of Prey

Re: Black Adam
I don't understand why DC audiences are rallying around this movie so much in particular. I agree its not terrible but its nothing special either. 40% is a bit low, 50s would make more sense but the 92% audience score is ridiculous

Re: Black Adam
I think it has more to do with Johnson. Audiences like him: His last 17 films all range between 60-92%: And his last 9 are all between 82-92%. Red Notice has a 92% Audience Score and a 36% tomato score. San Andreas is his last film to do under 60% at 52%.

Re: Black Adam
Finally saw it today. The action scenes were fun. Too many characters that seems meaningless but The Rock still makes fun movies so it wasn't boring. I also noticed at the beginning of the movie how much the dad sounded like The Rock so sort of guessed the twist in the first 10 minutes. I did enjoy the old scenes. Would have loved to even have 1/3 of the movie from ancient times.

Re: Black Adam
Unfortunately another DC misfire. Though the superhero characters are quite cool and Johnson plays a good Black Adam, the film is too simple. The dialogue is the worst and non of the regular humans make sense. There are some nice tunes in it and the action is alright, but it doesn't stay interesting for long. The mid-credits scene is a highlight.

Re: Black Adam
Dwayne Johnson has never been blander. Yet everything else kind of works.
C+
DC (2013-Present)
1. The Batman 2. Wonder Woman 3. Man of Steel 4. The Suicide Squad 5. Birds of Prey 6. DC League of Superpets 7. Zack Snyder's Justice League (that would never work in theaters because at least an hour would have to be cut) 8. Shazam 9. Wonder Woman 1984 10. Aquaman 11. Black Adam 12. Justice League 13. Joker 14. Suicide Squad 15. Batman v Superman 16. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (probably deserves a rewatch)

Re: Black Adam
Gosh the cgi looked really bad in this one after watching Way of Water the day before.
I mostly enjoyed the movie though. Mostly for the Justice Society. It's very Snyderversey in both look and tone. Only appropriate that it basically ended the franchise.
Just don't understand why The Rock is in this when literally any ole tough guy could have done the same thing. Use your charisma if you got it!

Re: Black Adam
And rankings:
1. The Suicide Squad - for me this is in the tier of Dark Knight, Endgame and Scott Pilgrim as the best comic book adaptations ever.
2. Woman Woman - these were all very good 3. The Batman (if it counts) 4. Man of Steel
5. Justice League 4 hour cut - enjoyed these despite notable faults 6. Batman v Superman 7. Shazam 8. Black Adam
9. Joker - these had some good ideas, but didn't execute them well in my opinion 10. Birds of Prey 11. Suicide Squad 12. Aquaman
13. Wonder Woman 1984 - I still don't know what happened with this one
