Mad Max is far more overrated than The Dark Knight. It makes The Dark Knight look like the best movie ever ever made in the history of the universe.

This.

I actually think it is pretty damn good.

But the praise heaped upon it is ridiculous.

There is no way in hell that Star Wars will be better/less overrated than this movie.

It could, anything is possible, but this is just so well done.

I had high expectations and I was seriously disappointed by the lack of substance and fun. It has great special effects and the action scenes are well executed, but after 30 minutes I was still asking myself why this movie got a nearly perfect rotten tomatoes score. In my opinion Mad Max is the most overrated of 2015...

4/10 = F

:funny:

I can only imagine, someone hating this film, if they were expecting some kind of child-friendly Disney film or something. Since we're talking about overrating, Spy is the film that gets way too much undeserved credit this year.

At least Star Wars will probably have a plot and half decent characters.

This movie is nothing more than a two hour chase sequence. Its pretty, but there's nothing there really of substance.

You do realize a film can have substance in a simple plot with little to no dialogue

Your assumptions about the medium of film are absurd.

Zwack, I assume you think paintings have no substance.

Well, maybe I exaggerated. Some simple movies with little dialogue can have substance, but not this one. It's really just a visual feast that uses practical effects instead of CGI. If it were CGI, people wouldn't be nearly as in love with it.

The visuals produce a significantly stronger response because it isn't CGI so you can't remove that element and keep the product the same.

I don't get this "it's all real practical effects" shit. There's a ton of CGI in MM. Like every scene is enhanced a lot and a lot of action shots too.

I mean I agree and certain of the shots are obvious CGI and don't look that great. But there's plenty of real stuff in there that other films would have used CGI for and that helps the film.

But for some reason MM gets praise for being all practical effects. IMHO the mix of practical and CGI is just the same as in nearly any other big action movie.

Not sure if that's fair. MM definitely is more practical then Avengers 2 or JW.

Of course you can't make as many practical effects with movies like that (superheroes, magic, dinosaurs - come on, your comment is really not spot on). I was mainly thinking on similar fare like Fast and Furious.
