Re: The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Indeed - its deserving of such high praise.
Interestingly, two of the best films of the year have involved people with mental disabilities.

THANK YOU MIKE. You're very welcome. So glad you loved it! I wish you would have watched it before the KJ Awards nominations . MadGez wrote: Interestingly, two of the best films of the year have involved people with mental disabilities. Both are my top 2.

Watching the deleted scenes on the blu-ray... Think the scenes between Charlie and his sister should've stayed in the movie.

That whole sequence was actually in the book and one of my favorite parts, and seeing the scene itself made it clear it would have fit perfectly. It was very well-done and well-performed.

Though I hope he doesn't start out a promising first-time filmmaker like Jacob Aaron Estes with Mean Creek only to go nowhere after. Estes won the John Cassavetes Award ( The Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award is presented to the creative team of a film budgeted at less than $500,000 by Film Independent) for that film and a Special Distinction Award for the cast. Anyway, that was an amazing, perfectly crafted coming-of-age film.

Yep, my fave film ever, watched it again last night with my best friends.

Re: The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Truly fantastic. The entire cast is aces here. Even though I haven't read the source material, I felt it was one of the strongest stories to tackle the topics involved that I have seen. I think what makes the film so good given its content is that you could take the high school element out of the picture, and the film's message would still be fairly strong. The last scene is excellent and left a big smile on my face.

Re: The Perks of Being a Wallflower
ugh. yet more glitzy, shiny hollywood i don't understand. it's clearly a genuine attempt, but it's just so damn happy and optimistic, and its presentation of high school is beyond ludicrous in its stereotypes. in fact, this manages to more banal than even the average coming-of-age indie teen drama or whatever. bleh.
