AVATAR - 5/10 ( C )
Visually pretty stunning, but I found the movie itself mostly boring (terribly so at times) and way overlong. Thank God I did not see this in theaters. I couldn't have handled it.

In any case, too much to handle for Bradley Witherberry.

Re: Avatar
I caught the extended version last night.
First of all, I still adore this film. I can very much see why others wouldn't tho'. There's some pretty cheesy scripting in there. I don't know what to say, it's like water off a duck's back to me. I just love the colours, the ecosystem, the 3D, and all those awesome action sequences. Seeing this on the big screen with Real-D goggles on is the ultimate guided daydream for me.
Loving Avatar is a bit like loving a drop-dead gorgeous person, who has a kind heart and a good sense of fun, but who just isn't especially bright (and how many of us can say we've never done that?).
Except, well, a film is not a person. But you get my point.
The extra scenes were neither here nor there, except for one truly brilliant one (the hunt sequence, which showcased some outstanding 3D and was a very odd omission) and one truly terrible one (the shot of Tsu'tey - ah, the alien apostrophe! - landing alive but injured, and surviving long enough to make a crap death speech).
Saw some trailers too. The Owls film looks like it has some very striking and dramatic 3D. The Hole in 3D looks like a good, eerie film. However, I was disappointed by how underwhelming the Tron Legacy trailer was.

the shot of the girl holding his human body is still hilariously cringe worthy

Good cinematic experience. I enjoyed it, and I would enjoy it again if I saw it, which I don't plan on doing. It's kind of boring to watch James Cameron movies because there's not much to extremely enjoy and there's not much too extremely criticise, it's all too safe (apart from The Terminator, T2 and True Lies, which are all awesomely enjoyable).

Re: Avatar
Watched it again in 2D. 3D or no 3D this still stays an experience to watch. Its something that I love about Cameron movies, they are long but you go through a cinematic experience. The visuals are outstanding and while the story isn't as original or groundbreaking the overall screenplay is a joy as every scene holds meaning to it and adds a little to the screenplay. I am still looking forward to the long delayed Avatar sequels.

Re: Avatar
I'd never seen the entirety of this movie as it looked stupid to me as an 11 year old. I finally watched it on Disney Plus since the sequel is hopefully coming out in December, and I liked it mostly. The visuals were awesome, even if the cg is already a bit dated. The story is obviously derivative, but I thought it was a decent take on a familiar story. Only real complaint was the pacing, I feel like they could've easily shaved a half hour off, I was checking my watch at the end. I'll definitely see the sequel.
