Yeah I forgot about that one. Edge of Tomorrow had to grow a bit on me though, Fury Road was more immediately a hit for me.

Edge and Fury Road are both such class movies, up there with the best of the last few years.

I would change the fade to black edits. Used too many times.

But, otherwise, this is how you make a movie.

Fuck off Ultron, Marvel, Disney, superhero bullshit. Enough of that nonsense.

Each one really stuck with me though. Like the torch being blown out in the sandstorm, or the one shot of Joe's army driving through the night. This film must've taken forever to edit and it shows: everything feels incredibly calibrated, in the best way possible.

Someone noted they were disappointed his car wasn't featured very much in this movie.

That was one thing I kinda liked - in any other, the hero would have found some ridiculous way to steal his car back mid-battle. But here - nope.

I also think the fade to black cuts are one of the things really done well with the movie. They add to its greatness more than anything, for me.

I honestly don't get what people like about this movie. I went to go see it yesterday mainly due to the positive reviews. I walked out thinking this was easily one the worst movies I've ever seen. I wanted two hours of my life back. Forget the Bourne movies, this is the worst shaky cam movie of all time. Tom Hardy barely says more than two words at a time. It kind of reminded me of Kurt Russell character in the movie Soldier.

The Raids are great btw, but comparing them to this is like comparing The Princess Bride to The Lord of the Rings. Same genre, but vastly different worlds, vastly different entertainment value, vastly different styles and vastly different production values. Even if only regarding the frequency of action, vastly stupid comparison. xoxo
This is fair. I think us Raid fanboys might be a little protective of the bar those movies set for high octane action. Every action set piece in Mad Max was fantastic and if the movie was 20 minutes shorter I would give it an A. I was not at all prepared for that long stoppage though and it really messed up the flow of the movie for me. That might change on a second viewing.

Have you seen IP Man 2? I liked that even better than the first. The table fight is insane.

Some of the best chase/action scenes I've seen. The attention to detail about where every bad guy is and what they're trying to do to take down the rig, puts most other scenes of the type to shame. A surprisingly emotional film and makes a lot of the characters likeable without needing expository dialog to do it.

Where the last act goes with winning back the citadel, a main character getting stabbed but living and the victory smile at the end between Max and Furiosa, is too predictable and safe a direction to go. Also I understand this is a "cartoony" world but the danger of making this movie with a light tone is it's difficult to make the stakes feel as important. The characters don't feel like they're in a hopeless land and the characters don't feel like they're in danger. I didn't feel real darkness in this world.

Yup, my favorite movie of the year thus far. It was indeed good, DAMN good. As someone who has never seen a Mad Max movie before, this worked well as a stand alone film. Only two parts I didn't like was Furiosa's scream moment and when they close the chasm (the scene obviously pandered for 3D love)

I cannot remember a single quote fron the film. It has many strengths, but dialogue isn't one of them.

Fucking AWESOME!

Love the scene when the antagonist says "Mediocre" Fury Road became one of my favorite films ever from that point on.

I only remember the line because the trailers and the posters hammered it into our heads.
