 28 Years Later  Quote: 28 Years Later is a 2025 post-apocalyptic horror film produced and directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. The third installment in the 28 Days Later film series, following 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007), it stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes. The film marks the returns of Boyle, Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle to the series, all of whom worked on the original film, with Cillian Murphy also serving as executive producer.
28 Years Later was released in the United Kingdom and the United States by Columbia Pictures through Sony Pictures Releasing on June 20, 2025. The film received positive reviews from critics.
It was shot back-to-back with its sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta, written by Garland, and produced by Boyle and Garland.

Re: 28 Years Later This was laughably bad and the ending was embarrassing. The kid was good and I liked the cinematography but that’s about it.

Re: 28 Years Later Damn I thought this was pretty great. I found it consistently engaging and intense, the story turns were sometimes weird and oddly paced but made for a unique experience. Sign me up for 29

Re: 28 Years Later I'm in the middle of you two. Even though I found the main characters annoying, their journey to find the doctor was interesting despite the stupidity of it all. They set up alot of things on the main land, like the infected evolving back into somewhat "normal" animals that are more interested in survival than spreading the virus. The alphas show intelligence, and it is hinted that they can birth "normal" human children. We have sadistic groups of humans tying up other humans just to leave a message too. But ... none of that really goes anywhere does it? They must have decided the story was too big for one film midway through and just pivoted to focus on this personal story of a boy and his very sick mother. Though ... if you're gonna do it that way then just end the film with the skull tower scene. Why add a cliffhanger? Ehhh.
So its a tough film to grade. The world they create is beautiful to look at and while bleak, it also thrilling to be a part of it. I just wish they had done more with it than a frustrating escort quest. I'll give it a 6/10 out of respect for the craft and trust that part two will retroactively make alot of the film feel less pointless.
28 Weeks Later remains the gold standard of this franchise.

The tone of this is so weird but I guess at least it made it interesting? The kid who played Spike carried the movie well.
