Biggest movie of April
In the biggest movie of January/February other than Mean Girls poll only MadGez got it right in Bob Marley and the big favorite Argylle crashed and burned. Let's try April which looks unpredictable.

Re: Biggest movie of April
Civil War is definitely looking at 20m OW. That unfortunately should be sufficient to win the month.

Re: Biggest movie of April
I think Civil War also. I'm hoping for a mid 20's OW but it may not get that high.

Re: Biggest movie of April
Wow if Civil War does 20m+ opening. Would love to see more bigger budget A24 films.
Although I don't really see it being huge, Challengers had some potential to do well if it's well received.

Probably CW but I'll go with Challengers to mix it up.

Re: Biggest movie of April
It's sad that no other April movie has yet to pass $25M TOTAL. Though Challengers and Monkey man will pass that it's been an attrocious month but wonderful for the March holdovers.

Re: Biggest movie of April
April monthly total $429,923,916. That ranks at #25. Taking out 2020/21 due to Covid, that's the worst April in 27 years since 1997. Though tickets are 125% higher now. Horrendous!

Re: Biggest movie of April
And most (haven't seen Ungentlemenly Warfare or Abigail yet) of the movies delivered. Sure, Civil War was a bit disappointing, but it's still a spectacle worthy of being seen on big screen. Monkey Man is niche to be sure, yet there was about $150M+ of John Wick fans who decided to stay home. Challengers was just awesome and hopefully will have the legs to show it.

Re: Biggest movie of April
Challengers is going to end up at maybe 75% of CW. It was a resounding success but yay for Challengers for finding an audience. Sorta feels Zendaya won April. And probably May at the rate things have been going.

Re: Biggest movie of April
Let's just pretend the stretch from early September to October with Beetlejuice, Transformers and Joker is the real May/early June

Re: Biggest movie of April
You're spot on. My most anticipated films are pretty much in that corridor with Beetlejuice, Joker, Venom 3, and Gladiator. Some interesting films like Wild Robot and A Real Pain with tried and true Transformers, and massive upside potential in Wicked.
If Mufasa misses, the October/November/March corridor (and probably July) will save the year.
Horizon randomly making $200M each would also be a nice surprise even though its a long shot would help the box office immensely.

It's less a long shot and more an impossibility. They won't even combine for $200m worldwide.

Horizon’s trailer just doesn’t seem like a big movie to me.

Re: Biggest movie of April
It feels like a TV show which is what I think will appeal to the fans of Yellowstone. That is the audience they need to show up for it to be a hit, not mainstream moviegoers really.

Re: Biggest movie of April
The only issue with that though is a lot of people could watch Horizon, but at home like a streaming mini series.

Re: Biggest movie of April
Apparently it's boring as fuck, so it won't do shit at the box office. Might be best if the marketing targeted insomniacs.

Re: Biggest movie of April
Best case for Horizons is to pull in the SOF crowd but it's probably the biggest coin toss of the summer after Twisters.

Re: Biggest movie of April
I took Horizon in the Draft as a bit of a gamble. Sort of like Wonka last year. Just not that confident in it right now. There certainly is a market for it but that is probably $100m big not $200m+ big.
