Wed - 6.65m. 2nd most impressive day after its Saturday increase. All set for 50m+ 2nd weekend. Presales are uber strong entire weekend and beyond.

They need to start on Dune Messiah already before Warner Bros Discovery goes bankrupt. Lock Dennis in a cottage in Quebec until he finishes the script.

I feel like this will be a case that Dune loses IMAX and they'll bring it back for mid to late April when all the other movies have long disappeared. It could have a strong 2nd and 3rd weekend but such a high % is from IMAX and premium screens (18% of global gross IMAX, 23% domestic IMAX share).

It's too early to call on $300M or not because of that loss in week 4. I hope its made a huge amount before then so its a foregone conclusion of it getting to $300M+. It should be at $160M by the end of this weekend and with spring break estimating it could be around $210M or so by weekend 3. Hoping it pulls something crazy like a $55M+ second weekend which will help (low 30s drop).

It looks like Dune is going to stay flat today despite drop on show counts compared to Mon/Wed. Shows it lost does not matter at all. 2nd weekend presales are twice that of Panda but Panda will close gap with walk ups. I dont think even O's 55m prediction is out of question. Needs 15m friday. Not impossible from 6.7m Thursday.

Dune's Sat/Sun drops average out to -32.5% so really was just the Friday rush out for opening night. Feel better about $300M if it can pull that type of weekend this week but will be close

Dune 2 is looking at $280-$310m domestic it seems. Nice haul. It should scrape by $300m.

Monday #: $4,800,000 -34% $162,043,092

It's close to its Sat/Sun daily drop. If it follows that for the rest of the week will go into its 3rd weekend with $176M. If it gets that drop this weekend as well, $30.5M weekend for $206.5M total. With no real competition this weekend, will probably hold better than that too. Another $12.4M next week's dailies and it will be at $218.9M going into its 4th weekend against Ghostbusters where it loses IMAX. I'm being conservative with holds as I expect it will be better than this but that's ballpark if it stays the way it has been dropping.

Is it confirmed its losing IMAX to ghostbusters? Or will it split showtimes.

Gonna be a lot of pissed off theater owners that weekend if they have to book all their showtimes for Ghostbusters.

In my area for pre-sales Ghostbusters has one Imax showing at 5 for several theaters. Ghostbusters is getting all Dolby screens.

Empire has Tues Dune at $5.3M (-35%). $167.4M total.

Tuesday #'s

1. KUNG FU PANDA 4 ($6.6M)
2. DUNE PART TWO ($5.3M)
3. IMAGINARY ($1.1M)
4. CABRINI ($1M

Even if Spring Break and discount Tuesday, that's a pretty impressive number for KFP4 and Dune2. Panda could be at $74M after just 1 week. I feel like it will get a bigger drop though given the teens/20 somethings that were a huge part of its audience. For context, that's the KFP franchise's biggest first Tuesday daily ever, getting past the original film's $6M summer daily.

Charlie is saying 4.4m for both Dune and Panda. Its holding very strong and Panda is helped by Spring Break. This week being a waste land will help both the movies.

Thursday #'s (The Numbers/ER)

1. DUNE PART TWO $4,446,748 / $171.81M -33%
2. KFP4 $4,189,010 / $73,352,235

If Dune follows a 33% drop, would get a 3rd weekend of $31M ($203M total).

Panda's Wednesday is just 8% under it's Monday gross so I do think that reflects overall good wom but the Friday/Sunday grosses will be hit I think from spring break impact. So still wouldn't be shocked by a 40% or more drop especially steep on Friday.

Empire is saying 4.5m for Dune Thursday. I wonder what would be the friday increase. Still should have a good 3rd weekend.

Lincoln Center imax is holding Dune Part Two over Ghostbusters and Godzilla x Kong.

I think 70mm is holding onto Dune. Question mark is regular imax.

It's so bizarre to me as a long-time Dune books fan to see the series suddenly taking over pop culture. I see endless memes on TikTok. It's fully going mainstream. Considering how weird the series gets... I did not expect Dune to get the Harry Potter/Twilight treatment. Some of those new fans who are buying the rest of the books because they like Timothee and Zendaya are in for a rough ride.

Monday #'s (ER)

1. DUNE PART TWO $2.8M -41.8%
2. KUNG FU PANDA 4 $2M -56.1%

Spring break is over! Dune could be at $215M going into its 4th weekend so $300M and $200M for KFP4 still up in the air.

my gut has been pretty clear on this for weeks — I don’t think there’s any chance Dune breaks $300m. Pie-in-the-sky-hopes y’all. But it’s basically already doubled its predecessor which is a HUGE win.

Assuming they continue the young Hollywood all-star casting, I feel like Jacob Elordi could be a good choice for
Spoiler: show
Scytale (in his normal, non-imitating-someone-else form).

WB's last 8 months has been such a turnaround it's impressive considering how much flack they got during the pandemic. Post 2018, WB only had 3 movies make more than $170M (2022's The Batman, 2019's IT2 and Joker) prior to Barbenheimer. Only 1 since 2019.

In July they had Barbie, Dec. Wonka and March Dune 2.

This weekend they have Godzilla/Kong
April Challengers
May Furiosa
June Horizon Part 1, The Watchers (thriller)
July Twisters
Aug Trap (M. Night), Horizon Part 2
Sept Beetlejuice 2
Oct Joker 2
Nov Red One (Rock holiday movie)
Dec LOTR

From Dune holdover and say a $175M Godzilla/Kong gross, they'll already be at say $600M+ domestic for the year from just their first three months. Add in Joker and they could be at $1B with an entire year's slate to go.

Getting 70mm imax back on the 19th. 4k blu ray out in mid May. Can the Lissan Al Ghaib keep riding the worm to $300M after all?

Doubtful since not all imaxes can play 70mm, and I'm sure both Civil War and Challengers are grateful for that, but two more weeks of sold out shows won't hurt.
