June 9-15 daily numbers
Promising start for Beasts, strong hold for Spider-Verse in the face of losing all its premium screens. Should be a fun showdown for #1 this weekend.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
Surprisingly great for Transformers. Was not expecting it to beat either the totals of Bumblebee or Last Knight and it looks like it will do so comfortably. Still far from the franchises glory days but at least they avoided a franchise killing flop like MIB International.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
This is one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Really impressive.
With Transformers back from the edge and Barbie looking for a mega breakout, could see a resurgence in toy movies to join the pending video game craze that will rolled out over the next few years.
Spider-verse's holds are great. Hoping it manages to hold well this weekend and hold on next weekend too.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
Looks like we could have 4 movies next week over $20M and possibly 2-3 over $30M as I'm not sure if Transformers will be able to get there. Mermaid should still be at $10M+ too with Elemental's help so market overall will be healthy though Elemental seems like its going to get the least of the riches.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
Transformers 5 would’ve opened to 55mish if it had opened on Wednesday so this opening won’t be that much of an increase technically but still good for it not to drop

With those numbers bots should be good for 60+ and spidey about 57.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
Its true Friday is the same as Spider-Verse's second Friday, so it's not that impressive. I always thought it would do well, so I guess I'm not as shocked as the rest of you.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
This is gonna be the fourth weekend in a row with a $50M opener (maybe even $60M?!), and barring a catastrophe The Flash will make it five weekends in a row. Going through the box office archives, as far as I can find the last time (ETA: onlytime ?!) we had so many $50M openers in a row was May/June 2008 - Narnia 2, Indiana Jones 4, Sex and the City, Kung Fu Panda, and Incredible Hulk! And as far I noted, it would be the first time we've had five $60M openers in a row, if Transformers can reach the mark.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
Could there be a surprisingly long drought of 150 million+ openers? The era of mega opening weekends may have faded with decline of superhero films, replaced by number of 50-70 ones.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
Mario would’ve done 180+ on a traditional Fri-Sun so I think that should count.
I don’t know if I see any 150m openers rest of the year though you’re right.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
A minor comeback for the Transformers franchise. And it appears this one isn't unwatchable unlike 2 through 4 so legs may be decent.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
BOM... totally makes sense.
Jun 9 Friday 1 $34,400,000 - - 3,678 $9,352 $34,400,000 1
DOMESTIC (100%) $34,400,000 INTERNATIONAL (–) $9,679 WORLDWIDE $34,409,679
They added the previews to Friday twice, I see that. How? Who knows. But what is that $9,679 international number, and where did that come from?

That's an all-too-common mistake at Mojo now. Happens every week.

Re: June 9-15 daily numbers
1 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts $60,500,000 2 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse $55,425,000 -54% $225,446,000 3 The Little Mermaid $22,700,000 -45% $228M ($414M worldwide) 4 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 $7,028,000 -34% $335,400,769 5 The Boogeyman $6,917,000 -44% $24,737,895 6 Fast X $5,200,000 -46% $138,127,000 ($652M worldwide) 7 The Super Mario Bros. Movie $2,120,000 -37% $570,163,000
Past Lives $520,772 26 +22 $20,030 $867,096
Solid for Transformers. The franchise is alive.
Spiderverse held well but had stronger competition than expected. Needs a 4.15 multiplier to get to $400M which isn't impossible but will require surviving next week and stabilized holds pretty quickly.
Fast X looks like it might just squeak by $150M after all. Let's see how bad it drops next week.
Past Lives had a great expansion going from $50K to $20K PTA from 4 to 26 theaters. Hope it continues to build buzz. It made the top 10 from just 26 theaters too it looks like.
We also have a 17 week streak going of a holdover or opener doing $30M+ which has kept going since Ant Man so with the summer hopefully it can keep going till mid August.
Also kudos to Paramount overall: 2022 - TGM, Sonic 2, Smile, Lost City (all $100M+), Scream. Their only flop really was Babylon. 2023 - Transformers reboot, Scream VI. 80 For Brady disappointed but still pulled $39M from a $28M budget. D&D would be the only other disappointment but that was primarily from a $150M budget.
They have MI, TMNT, Paw Patrol and KOFTM which all look like they could be hits. They are co-producing IJ but feels like that's mostly Disney so should get an out if that majorly disappoints.
