Re: June 16-18 Predictions
This weekend IMO is the most exciting in a long time. Not for records being broken but the sheer potential uncertainty involved makes it anyways guess how it will turn out by Sunday.
-How big will The Flash be? -Can Elemental pull a decent showing and surpass low expectations? -Will The Blackening pull in a decent horror audience? -Can Spider-verse hold well enough against The Flash and Elemental? -Have big will Transformers drop be? -Can The Little Mermaid hold well and benefit from Elemental's opening? -Will Guardians be able to keep its great legs up? -Is Mario clear to win the year at this point? -Can The Boogeyman pull another great hold despite the intense competition? -Does Fast X have enough gas left to pull out $150M? -How will Asteroid City do in limited? -Can Past Lives keep its strong buzz and PTA up?

For me, this weekend will be memorable not because of a potential blockbuster coming up, but because of Ezra Miller. Should Warner Brothers recast The Flash because of Ezra Miller's indictment? Could do they do the same when Kevin Spacey was replaced by Christopher Plummer in the film All the Money in the World? Would Warner Brothers strategy of hiding Ezra Miller until the premiere work? I voted no that this film will fall below $100 million opening weekend because of Ezra Miller. Marvel Studios have a similar quandary with Jonathan Majors. I speculate Marvel won't follow Warner Brothers' lead.

Re: June 16-18 Predictions
I think its higher. Probably ~10.25m for Flash and 2.4m for Elemental.

Redeemable for The Flash. Really bad for Elemental. Could it miss $30M?

Re: June 16-18 Predictions
But it's a kids movie. Who is really clamouring to see Elemental on a Thursday evening? I would judge that movie on its Saturday and Sunday numbers.
As for The Flash, that preview number sucks. This should be frontloaded like a bitch, and it can't even get that right. Damn you, Ezra!

Pixar giving $200M to this tired earth/water/fire/wind concept is just... is the company a money laundering front now?

Re: June 16-18 Predictions
If they play it as a mockumentary while raising the issues of climate change and nature preservation while also making fun of the ridiculousness of elements of the show in a campy way (like having the power of "Heart"), in a Barbie type way it could absolutely work.
It's also a movie that I think would be fun to get big A list stars from each continent and could be a special effects popcorn flick at the same time.
I do think millennials and GenZ would eat it up if done well.
On another note, a good Carmen Sandiego movie with someone like Zeta-Jones or Jolie would be a fun movie.
