Post Vision Pro - Movie Industry Impact
Apple unveiled their first new device in a decade today, the Vision Pro.

Bob Iger was there and mentioned Disney+ will be on it Day 1.

The AR and experience looks very compelling like being in a movie, sporting event, or travel destination itself.

What will the movie industry impact be? Premium screens should get a lot of investment to keep up.

Feels like there's ALOT more opportunities here now since Apple is going to eventually bring this mainstream.

If World of KJ wants to band together and buy me one, I will be brave and bold enough to test this out for the world. You can send the $3500 to my venmo. :shades:

Is $3,499 really mainstream?

I thought paying $300 for my homepod was an absurd extravagence so no, $3500 is not mainstream lol.

But once this set hits $1000 and you can just add it on to your phone plan... I could see them catching on.

I had a friend text me about this, and they made it sound revolutionary, and well... after watching the video presentation, it might be.

I have a 50" TV, and while it's nice, there are still the common issues of glare from lights, people walking in front of you, and that feeling of it still not being big enough. Being able to watch TV, a movie, play a game, etc., on this and making the screen as big as the space in your room and removing all the inconveniences sounds like a game changer to me.

Of course, there are many other things this does, but that's the #1 appealing idea to me. And $3500 is well out of reach, but yeah, if this comes down to that $1000/1500 price point in years to come, I could see it having some kind of impact on movie theaters.

Macbook 1 cost US$2,495 (equivalent to US$7,000 in 2022) when it launched in 1984.

The original IPhone cost $499 in 2007 (now $799 with inflation).

As it gets more models, a lower cost version is almost certainly coming in the next few years.

its using Micro LED display which is still in its very early days. To get it cheaper they have to use mini led or OLED instead. I dont see Apple launching any non pro device for next 2 years. This itself will take 2nd half of next year to launch in limited quantities as Apple do not make the display panels themselves. Manufacturing bleeding edge displays aint a joke for sure.

AR/VR will be niche for sure. Apple will grab the market Microsoft had with Hololens 2.

first thought (after the expected dystopian lust / disgust) — this will be truly a gamechanger for masturbation
