Re: Barbie+Oppenheimer vs Flash+Elemental New Moon (2009) pulled the 3rd biggest OW of all time and it had 80% females show up OW. 20% men didn't mostly go to see vampires vs werewolves. I'm sure lots got pulled to see it for Sat. date night. Barbie is going to probably be a similar case.
Even heavily skewing female led movies like Eat, Pray, Love pulled 72% female.
It's like saying what's the appeal of Paw Patrol for adults. So no adults will see it? Nope, lots will be brought by their kids to go!

Re: Barbie+Oppenheimer vs Flash+Elemental I am expecting both these movies to have strong critical reactions as well. So its going to be great overall not just for box office but 2 good but very different movies releasing on the same weekend. Great for theaters for sure.

Re: Barbie+Oppenheimer vs Flash+Elemental Here's to hoping the franchise floppage of this year and the success of Barbie and Oppenheimer will convince studios that tentpoles can also be non-sequels/franchise films. I feel like the tide is changing and all these tired franchises are on the way out and audiences want something fresh again.

I can’t either. None that were scheduled ever really eventuates. MIB and Titanic were both scheduled for July 97 - Titanic moved. GotG and Fifty Shades were scheduled for the same August 14 weekend but Shades moved. The only one I can recall would be Fast Six v Hangover 3 a decade ago. In the end it was a non event. _________________

Oppenheimer alone almost beat F+E. The opening days handily beat F+E as well. B+O wins!

Based on its 3day weekend, Elemental will just need a 114.4X multiplier to make up for The Flash.
