Will be lucky to make $200 million! I think the first is one of the most overrated films ever but this does look to at least make $250m. $300m is a chance but yes I cant see $400m at all.

The audience and buzz growth for Mermaid close to the release makes me think Barbie can do the same. I also expect better legs if people hear its good and those who see Opp first then Barbie another weekend. I think the Barbie OW will be insane. Not sold on the legs yet though.

It’s funny we always say there are few 100-200 million films. This looks to be the sweet zone this year.

Re: Predict the Top 10 Summer Films
If MI had premium screens and more room from B+O I'd say it'd be a serious challenge for #1 but it's going to need to make a lot in week 1. The early word coming from the premiere is very strong. If the TGM halo effect is a real thing (which to a slight extent I think it will be), anything is possible. Would be something to see a star in the #1 movie of the year two years in a row. Tom Hanks pulled it off with TS1 and Forrest Gump in 1994/95 and Ford did it in 1980/81 with SW5 and IJ1
Chris Pratt and Will Smith were close in 2014/2015 with GOTG/Jurassic World and ID4/MIB respectably.

Re: Predict the Top 10 Summer Films
Well if we’re counting Toy Story pratt can do it guardians and Mario. I still think most impressive ever was Stallone in 85. Both sequels increased and one almost 200%, oh wait were talking two years. That is a tough stat as most actors aren’t working that fast.
Also I think RDJ did it with avengers and Iron Man 3

Re: Predict the Top 10 Summer Films
Let me get this straight; people are donating to a fund so that the distributor can buy tickets en masse and give them away for free for passers-by or church groups to see Sound of Freedom? Potentially auditoriums could be empty but it's #1 at the box office?
This sounds very sketchy, almost an underhand Chinese grey zone tactic.

Re: Predict the Top 10 Summer Films
The auditoriums I don’t think are empty, at least they weren’t, since there was a 24hr turnaround for the free tickets a few days ago

Probably the same for Barbie, though I can see how that could be popular and fresh. I STILL don't get Spider-Verse 2's jump.

Re: Predict the Top 10 Summer Films
Spider-verse had the 3rd best legs ever for a Superhero movie behind Batman Begins and original Batman. It became a WOM hit that also got lots of attention once it hit streaming to expand its audience.
