So apparently Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are coming back for a 2024 Karate Kid.
The 2010 version made $176,591,618 domestic and this new version has 14 years of inflation and Cobra Kai has been a huge hit with the younger generation on Netflix. Last movie did $359M globally from a $40M budget.
One thing I read was Cobra Kai may have been #4 for original series in streaming ratings behind Stranger Things, Ozark and Wednesday with 16.7B minutes in 2022.
Coming out Dec. 2024 1 year from now. They are also doing a global search for the star with people submitting audition videos. So feels like the virality of this could be off the charts. Feeling like that Simpsons episode on who gets to play Fall Out Boy (Milhouse).
I feel this karate kid multiverse could do really well, maybe Hillary Swank shows up. Dec could be enough to let it get to $250M imo.
