So Old did $1.5m previews... hm... idk if this will hit $20m

That could mean sub 15m for KATC. Yikes!

But that at least solidifies a solid double digit opening for 80 For Brady.

With better reviews than Old hopefully the multiplier is better for Knock. Though Old was also in the summer. This is more than half of M3GAN's Thursday preview so it might do 15-16 Million.

80 for Brady tickets are almost 1/3 less than for Cabin apparently with an $8 for 80 promotion to encourage older female audiences to return to the theater. So it's a good likelihood it will be the most attended movie of the weekend.

If Dave B. has another film disappoint, wouldn't be shocked to see him go to the DC universe soon enough.

$5.4m for Knock at the Cabin. Not good. Honestly the premise from the trailers was always unappealing so idk. At least Old's premise was intriguing.

Knock’s number is awful. Will be lucky to crack 15m with that

Cue all the think pieces about how it bombed because America is homophobic lololol

Kudos to M Night for doing these movies for cheap though. At a 20m budget at least it won't be a huge loss.

80 for Brady is probably gonna do like $70m+, expect legs to be great. Knock probably won't pass $40m.

I think 4.7 is a good start for 80 for Brady. Old people will take their time going to it and it will leg out.

Knock at the Cabin is an embarrassment. Sure it was cheap but I never thought it would do even less than Old, which opened during a resurgence of Covid

Knock should've opened over $20m. Fine start for 80 For Brady and Puss in Boots is still doing excellent.

I hope Batista doesn't get dragged down by this.

M Night came back from the Last Airbender / AfterEarth / The Happening run, which would have buried any other director. I just don't see it happening again though. I felt trapped in the theater while watching Old and will never put myself through that again. I imagine many other people feel the same way.

The discounted tickets for 80 4 Brady were a brilliant idea. It turned into a relatively risk-free experience for people who long for the old days of affordable entertainment. I didn't think it would be able to find an audience, but I'm glad to be wrong, otherwise this weekend's box office would have been pitifully miserable.

Is this the highest opening weekend for a film with two openly gay characters in lead roles?

People underestimate how much that repels certain sections of the audience. I see this opening as a win in that context.

I’d think that wouldn’t be a problem with a rated R movie? I think people are mostly opposed to LGBT content in kids films rather than R rates thrillers that mostly adults watch

Oh wow I didn't even notice Knock was Rated R. Honestly think it could've passed for PG13

First of all, there are plenty of adults who do not want at all to watch something gay related. And 'being opposed' =/= 'actively choosing not to watch'. Films with gay lead characters are 1) rarely made, 2) rarely become successful. That's always been the case despite a few flukes here and there like Brokeback and Bohemian Rhapsody. Most of them flop or get minimal releases in the first place.

Like I'm sorry but you have to be living under a rock to really think that a film with two gay characters as the lead who also have an adopted daughter would not turn a large segment of the American public off. Thrillers/horror films also tend to skew more African American and Hispanic and those communities tend to be much more homophobic. The average Latino, black person and a lot of whites for that matter too are NOT going to choose to spend an afternoon watching a movie where they're supposed to root for the gay dads. Even the nice liberal white people who have gay friends don't go see these movies by and large.

They could instantly fix that if they made a horror film with gay leads where the killer slaughtered them all. It might break records. ;)

Huge Tuesday for 80 For Brady. Very promising for its long term run. Also the biggest daily number since Avatar with $2,769,211 on Jan. 17th.

80 for Brady $2,540,127 +110% $16,451,979
A Man Called Otto $625,000 +89% -40% $54,031,402

80 for Brady 2 with a new cast addition like Meryl? I think you make them go to the overtime conference championship game against Mahomes who’s in it, and then make them celebrate the boring Rams Super Bowl watching it on TV. The covid year or ending with Mighty Casey striking out with a Brady loss would be too depressing.

This model can be duplicated for Lebron? (basketball), Messi? (soccer), baseball, hockey, etc. pretty much any sport. Feels like even after a theatrical run this will be playing in office waiting rooms, TV syndication, streaming platforms, etc. for a long time so will be a revenue generator for a while.

It only has a $28M budget as well so could match that by Valentines Day or sooner depending on its hold this weekend.

Also, LOL 80 has already passed Cabin on Day 5:

80 for Brady $16,451,979
Knock at the Cabin $16,423,970

They could add Diane Keaton or Meryl Streep to a sequel, and change the sport. What a world we live in if it was Meryl Streep that finally made football popular in the US, lol.
