Cocaine Bear weekend thread
$2m previews. Seems strong tbh. Don't know if that's enough for $20m+ but high teens may be likely.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
M3gan multiple gets it to 22m. Knock at the Cabin gets it to 19m.
So high teens should be assured even if it’s more front loaded

Jesus Revolution- 3.3m
That’s really good no? The last major studio Christian release was before the pandemic right? We’ve just had the Chosen and I Hear the Bells Fathom Events since then.
Even if it’s crazy front loaded it’s gotta do high teens with that

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Edit: Jesus had special event screenings on Wednesday so that’s rolled into the preview figure. Still teens seems a solid bet.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Jesus so called BO is all sham. They were just handing out free tickets ( https://jesusrevolution.movie/ticket-request). Even allows bulk free request. Its release otherwise is very small. I doubt it going to do that much.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Jesus Revolution might do 10 Million. 2 Million was from Wednesday.
I'm hoping for high teens for Cocaine Bear at least. 20+ would be even better but I don't see it having a multiplier as strong as M3GAN. But maybe it could have one a bit stronger than Cabin.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Even if its benefiting from school breaks, Puss is now just $30.69M away from $200M going into the weekend. Harsher Sunday drop from last week's inflated long weekend but the journey to $200M continues. So let me get this straight, Ant Man did a $3,781,913 Thursday when some schools are out? So it may have been 10-20% lower on a typical weekday?

Why are schools out? There is no holiday right now. There’s no evidence schools were out this time last year.

Decent start for Cocaine Bear. Not the breakout hit I wanted it to be, but atleast it didn't flop.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
This will still be a win for Banks.
Charlie's Angels made $73.3M worldwide with a budget of $48–55M (Production) and $50M in advertising. It only did $17,803,077 domestic from a $8.3M OW.
Production budget here is $30–35M. It could possibly outgross CA in its opening weekend off of a smaller budget. Will also be big on streaming from a curiosity factor so already looking like a winner.

I actually thought Charlie's Angels was fun lol. It'd be cool if they made another one with the original cast.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
71% drop... lolol yeah hopefully this gets them to put a lot more efforts in their movies in terms of writing. Quantumania was really not good at all imo.
Great for Cocaine Bear if it hits 20m.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
I guess the drop from the elevated 3-day was to be expected. That said would have hope for a slightly better hold. The film itself is decent where as the fatigue seems to be MCU in general.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
It’s a strangely low increase considering everything increased 120% or more same weekend last year.

I wonder if Cocaine Bear will do enough for them to make the sequel the end credits promise.

In fact the sunday drop added just 2-3m to the 3 day weekend. The reason why it tanked is because reception is beyond mediocre. B Cinemascore and terrible postrak scores. it looks like dropping harder than BvS which opened on a Good Friday.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Cocaine Bear 8.65m Ant Man 8.3m
Should be enough to avoid 70%drop for Ant Man but definitely still could eclipse Black Widows 68% drop for the biggest Mcu second weekend drop

Very promising to see Cocaine Bear go half a mill over early estimates. It might have some decent legs.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
If Ant Man drops -73.9% or more, it will beat Fifty Shades of Grey for worst second drop ever for a $50M+ opener.
If it drops -72% or higher, it will beat Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 which saw an $169,189,427 OW for $90M+ openers.
Valentine's Day is #3 for $50M+ openers with -70.4% after a $56,260,707 OW.
Twilight New Moon is #4 with a -70% drop after a $142,839,137 OW for $50M+ films.
A good comparison here may be Ang Lee's poorly received The Hulk (2003) which dropped -69.7% after a $62,128,420 weekend leading to a $132,177,234 total. That adjusts now to about $96.54M/$205.39M which likely isn't going to be too far off from Ant Man 3.

Look at Violent Night trying to edge over the $50m mark. So cute.

Re: Cocaine Bear weekend thread
Yes, horrendous drop for Ant-Man. Even if this ends up doing 3x this weekend for the rest of its run it'll end with a $232m total, less than a 2.2 multiplier from OW.
