HG ~ 50m
Trolls ~ 30m.

There is not much of a pace for either. HG is still better than Marvels at this point but middling reviews wont help.

Hunger Games 59m
Trolls 28m

Marvels -60% (could a late flurry of media appearances help soften the fall?)

marvels will tank hard. Its Sunday drop looks terrible(almost 40% based on Charlie's numbers). Dont forget its losing Imax and big chunk of other PLF as well. 2 new openers plus meh WOM. its going the route of Flash here.

That's a terrific girl-on-girl position, so quite an apt drop for The Marvels. ;)

9 new movies/expansions over the next week and a half. As bad as the OW for Marvels was, it looks like it will only go worse from here. I'm not even sure if this will be able to get to $90M.

This weekend feels like pre-pandemic. There are four major releases, three of them wide (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Thanksgiving, Trolls Band Together).

And next weekend there are three more; The Holdovers, Napoleon, and Wish.

(personal note: how odd to have Wish follow the week after Trolls opens)

Hunger Games is accelerating very well now. I am expecting 50m+ and I expect it to double Trolls as well.

When you have 3/4 movies in a franchise all do $400M+ adjusted just a decade before and the fact that the original HG snuck up an OW to $150M+ out of nowhere this is not a franchise we can discount for a surprise. For the box office's sake, hoping for a mega breakout.

I've always thought it had potential to be a Fantastic Beasts-level of performance (was my second pick in the draft), but Harry Potter maintained a stronger fanbase post main series films than Hunger Games did, so matching the first FB was probably unrealistic.

Still, it could (and maybe *should*) do something like $60-70m/$175-200m. Reviews are good enough too.

Not sure if there’s a real Hunger Games in this one, but the human battle royale is such a good concept that I’m not surprised it could work again a generation later, similar to “dinosaur amusement park goes wrong”.

If the Fortnite movie was opening this weekend it'd probably match the first Hunger Games. :hahaha:

I predicted $65M in the game because that's what Rise of the Beasts made and I didn't have a better comparison. Seems too high though. $50M would be a win for these Games.

Hoping Thanksgiving does well!

Trolls release date is just stupid so I don't care.

It features the 10th annual Hunger Games, set 64 years before the original story. A young future President Snow (18) mentors the main character. There are lots of throwbacks to the original series too, such as the origin of the Hanging Tree song, how "May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor" started, and more.

Post Re: November 17-19 Predictions
Just realized, Marvels likely may not even make the top 4 for the month of November.

HG $100M+
Trolls $100M+
Wish $100M+
Napoleon TBD but hopefully $100M+

Holdovers, Thanksgiving, Next Goal Wins, if anything really takes off or breaks out could push Marvels out but not likely to go THAT big. Still pretty embarrassing. If it finishes with $90M would be at #26 for the year but could bump down to 35 or worse by the time we get through Thanksgiving and Christmas movies.

Makes no sense for Trolls to not have moved up to the first weekend in November. Huge misfire. This (start of Nov) was once one of the best weekends for animated films.
