No Hard Feelings - $2.15m

Seems pretty good, although this probably includes the sneaks last weekend.

Asteroid City - 1.1m

Also seems pretty good. If these end up on the higher end of projections that'd be nice to see.

Thurs #'s:

Spider-Man $3,550,000 -33% $297,756,663
The Flash $2,810,000 $72,360,757

Theater counts this weekend:

#TheFlash - 4,256 (+22)
#Elemental - 4,035
#SpiderVerse - 3,785 (-88)
#Transformers - 3,523 (-157)
#TheLittleMermaid - 3,275 (-205)
#GotGVol3 - 2,010 (-250)
#TheBlackening - 1,775
#TheBoogeyman - 1,640 (-500)

Which 22 theaters thought this was a great weekend to add The Flash?! :funny:

Decent start for NHF.

That should mean at least high single digits for Asteroid City. Awesome!

Probably means high teens for No Hard Feelings which is also good!

Wow, fresh off the presses, we have a new #1!

1. ELEMENTAL ($3.6M)
2. SPIDER-MAN ($3.5M)
3. THE FLASH ($2.8M)
4. TRANSFORMERS ($1.8M)
5. THE LITTLE MERMAID ($1.7M)

Go Elemental! Think it has a chance for $20M+ this weekend too.

Looking like it could be Spider-verse vs Elemental barring any surprises from The Flash or NHF for #1 this weekend. Going with Elemental just so Pixar can get to #1 and save some face a bit.

In a very, very encouraging sign, Elemental's Thursday of $3.6M is already almost at LY's $3.8M Thursday last year despite it opening to $50.6M vs Elemental's $29.5M. WOM is picking up. Let's hope we have a Finding Nemo / Puss type run here.

Elemental increased on Thursday? Very impressive.

If Elemental follows LY's second weekend days to a tee following it's Thursday daily, it would get $17.2M (41.9%).

Definitely feels like it will hold better. Right now I'd say Spider-verse / Elemental could both end up in the $18-22M range so this weekend remains too close to call.

The Flash would need to withstand a drop of better than 62-64% approx to stay competitive for #1 but I think its dropping more than that.

I think Elemental is gonna have very good legs. I feel like it'll even outgross Ruby Gillman next weekend.

This is what the best case scenario in a dream type situation would be:

Puss In Boots 2011:
Oct 28-30 1 $34,077,439 / $34,077,439
Nov 4-6 1 $33,054,644 /-3%/ $75,527,682

Similar to how lots of people were distracted by Halloween to depress weekend 1, maybe so many people busy with Spider-verse and The Flash make Elemental the go to movie to see this weekend.

Anything over a $22M second weekend for Elemental (-25%) would make me feel much better about it's chances for $150M+. Long weekend + summer holidays and less competition overall. It just needs enough of a weekend 2 boost to keep those theaters long enough.

That would be a low # for NHF, guess bulk of those previews were those Saturday screenings.

That Flash #... wow

Here's hoping for a tie for #1 this weekend. It has to happen... eventually, right?

And I know some really loved The Flash, even some saying it's one of the best (or the best) superhero movie they've seen, but clearly the general WOM is poor for it to be doing these numbers. It's not even going to double its OW if that early number holds.

One year ago this weekend we actually had a tie in the estimates between Elvis and Maverick,. before Elvis emerged victorious. A genuine tie at the box office is nigh impossible, I can't even imagine what the stats on that would be? But I could definitely see another Sunday morning tie before we know the victor on Monday.

Flash is going from flop to disastrous mega-bomb. People were saying they hoped it made it to $150M. Maybe $100M is now a more realistic bar.

Oh, that's right! And just checked that there ended up being a fairly large $1.6m difference with actuals.

Curious to what the closest battle for #1 has ever been now. The closest I see was Demon Slayer vs Mortal Kombat in their second weekends back in 2021:

1 2 Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train $6,480,721
2 1 Mortal Kombat $6,225,457

This could be one of the closest ever, but I wonder if any were as close as <$100k.

Could be the 1st June weekend since 2002 where no film makes $20m. Probably a 50/50 shot pending Elementals hold

Both elemental and spiderverse will be close to 20m and could go over if they hold well Saturday and Sunday

No Hard Feeling's OW is in the same range as Red Sparrow, Joy and Passengers so it seems her star power hasn't shifted that much. JLaw has a fanbase even if it's not prime Julia Roberts-level box office draw, which is what the industry was hoping for back when she had Hunger Games and Silver Linings in the same year.

Flash looks like it could make a play for worst drops for movies that opened to $50M+. :funny:

Here are $50M+ OW films that dropped over 70% in weekend 2. Only 4 films to have done that.
Fifty Shades of Grey $85,171,450 -73.9%
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 $169,189,427 -72%
Valentine's Day $56,260,707 -70.4%
The Twilight Saga: New Moon $142,839,137 -70%

50SOG budget = $55M and VD budget = $52M.

They really should've pulled a Batgirl and taken it as a tax write off lol. This has a $300M+ budget allegedly. They are going to lose so much money... more layoffs coming. Makes Little Mermaid look like a smash.

Geeeeeez, I think The Flash - despite its higher gross - is a bigger flop than Shazam! Fury of the Gods now. It is in freefall.

Shazam 2 had a reported budget of $100-125M. $57M domestic gross. $43M gap.

The Flash $200M budget without marketing. Domestic maybe $110M at best. $90M gap.

These aren't profits of course since theaters and others get a cut but just showing how much worse The Flash is when we all thought Shazam was the biggest flop.

The Flash + Shazam 2 = Black Adam. Not great!

More and more obvious that even a 95% RT score would not have saved Flash, this just isn a film anyone wanted
