Yeah, it's a very hard genre to find success with at the box-office. Is there even a notable success? Can even throw Lightyear into this category too.

Treasure Planet is great though, and Atlantis is pretty good too. If Strange World is comparable, I'd be satisfied.

Maybe Disney should branch out their musical films to include more genres than just (mostly) Disney Princess movies. Could a quality Disney sci-fi-adventure animated musical find success if the songs are good?

Probably Monsters and Aliens, Chicken Little, maybe Wreck it Ralph, Wall E and Big Hero 6, etc.

Personally I thought it really came down to the animation and marketing and lack of an indistinguishable characters made it look like a VOD release.

The Menu is not having very good daily holds. Even with the holiday it looks likely to drop almost 50%

This has to be one of the worst scheduled Thanksgiving stretches ever. Devotion, The Menu, Bones and All, The Fabelmans all aimed at the same older audience but none connecting there are just too many.

You know its bad when we're going to finish lower than last year during a pandemic. There really wasn't any good reason why that should have happened.

That Apple Ferrell/Reynolds holiday movie probably would have cleaned up too. They'll see the numbers Glass Onion is doing and hopefully go down that route in the future.

Glass Onion has gotta let Netflix realize how much they're leaving on the table, no? Too late for Pinocchio and Matilda but hopefully they start normal theatrical windows in 2023

Spirited has been doing great here since it opened. Many near sell-outs. They actually added another screen on Thursday. I'm surprised THAT many people know about it and are going to see it in a theater instead of just streaming it. That would have been a pretty big hit as a traditional theatrical release.

Yeah, it has the aura of a Christmas classic in the making. They missed a trick by not giving it a full release.

Ferrell also has a built in Christmas fanbase for nearly 20 years from Elf as a holiday staple.

Ferrell was offered $29M for Elf 2 and turned it down but could do $200M+ if that were ever made.

Ironically he turned it down due to "artistic integrity" while on his way to making Semi Pro and the Eurovision movie a few years later. :P

Seriously - this is perhaps the worst major holiday scheduling I’ve seen in three decades.

We could have easily had a huge and diverse BO weekend that looked something like;

1.Glass Onion
2. Wakanda Forever
3. Spirited
4. Disenchanted
5. Devotion

Most of it is to blame on streaming related decisions.
