Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
Today its semi holiday. Should hit 170m+ I think. Presales for friday is tad higher than DS2. Tomorrow it might drop slightly and hold on sunday depending on how strong its receptio.

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
Hopefully it does north of $170m + & has a solid run so we can get BP3 Quote: https://collider.com/black-panther-3-st ... -comments/With all the excitement buzzing for the new Black Panther, as well as Namor the Sub-Mariner (Tenoch Huerta) and Riri Williams' (Dominique Thorne) Ironheart MCU debuts, we were curious to know if a third Black Panther film is guaranteed. When asked if the studio expects another feature-length Wakandan entry in the next three or four years, or if fans are more likely to be seeing these beloved characters embedded in other Marvel movies, Moore said: "That's a great question. To be honest, this is not me trying to not answer the question. We really want to see how audiences receive the film, and I think Ryan's really interested to see how the film plays before we decide. There are certainly ideas we've floated around of what a third film could be if we get to make it. But until the movie comes out, we're a bit superstitious in that way. We don't want to count our chickens, because you never know what's going to happen."

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
I would say 28 - 55 - 52 - 38 for 173m OW. Sunday drop should be slightly better than norm for November due to good WOM. Probably targeting domestic run of 450m.

I believe Deadline reported that Comscore estimated 52% of schools are closed on Friday because of Veteran's Day. This weekend is somewhat like a summer weekend.

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
deadline just posted 80m+ friday including previews. Its still early but for bigger movies its easier to hone in on the number with presales dominating BO more than norm.

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
Even if it's early and was a holiday on Friday, TTP apparently may drop just 9% on Friday so could be high $50's by the end of the weekend. Lyle's Friday could be up 48% from last Friday. With Thanksgiving, even with Strange World it may somehow find its way to $50M+. These #'s are from Deadline.
TTP getting to $100M would be uber impressive. If it hangs around long enough I'd expect it could do really well into the Christmas / NY holidays.

Expect some really good legs. BOT is reporting that its tru Friday could be between 57 to 59 with a small drop on Saturday. 185+ is looking really good.

Black Adam down 42% from last Friday. Considering it lost premium screens that's a really strong drop. (I guess its inflated due to holiday but still)

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
What's going on with Lyle? It has increased week-to-week for the last eight days despite losing theatres. Is it purely being the sole kids film in the market?

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
Well 2022 finally looks to deliver a new monthly record. BP2 should get past The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at $158,074,286 from 2013! I could see a possible $300M range where this movie's total ends. A lot will depend on next weekend's hold.
2022's yearly domestic tally is now $6,247,705,116. Should be at close to $6.4B by Sunday. Could be close but should approach $8B for the year.
On Lyle, believe lots of schools were out already + only kids film.

This weekend it’s because Friday is inflated due to Veterans Day. Last week it was because Halloween depressed the weekend before for family films

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
Weekend estimates: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever $150.0M overseas, $180M domestic for $330M global total Black Adam $8.6 M / $151.1M -53% Ticket to Paradise $6.10M / $56.51M - 29% Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile $3.20M / $40.84M - 5% Smile $2.33M / $102.78M -42% Prey for the Devil $2.01M / $16.96M - 48% One Piece Film Red $1.45M / $12.77M -84% Till $618K / $8.04M The Fabelmans $160K ($40K PTA) Halloween Ends $147,000 / $64.04M - 90% Very impressive to see a movie do a $40M OW and potentially not get to $65M. Black Adam also held well considering it lost 400 theaters and BP2.

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
Great numbers this weekend. Lyle will pass Death on the Nile and probably push for $50 million, and Smile will out-gross The Lost City.

Congrats to Minions: Rise of Gru for surpassing The Batman! The movie was not so much discussed in these forums, since Maverick dominated the whole summer.

Re: Wakanda Forever weekend thread
2022 now at $6,364,074,295 for the year. With Thanksgiving + holidays, BP2 should be able to get $450M at least. So that would bring the yearly tally $6.634M. Can we get to $8B for the year? May be a stretch unless we get some big non-Avatar breakouts.
