(Sigh). I definitely should have been more conservative on that one.
Going from last to 3rd to this point is something I can leave with. Though I royally underpredicted Puss In Boots too is my feeling.

Wow. I don't even care if I don't win, that Avatar: The Way of Water prediction feels like a huge triumph already. Finally, lowballing paid off!  My Puss in Boots: The Last Wish prediction is so low. But let's see. Who knows. Thankfully nobody went too high on it. |

I think Algren is going to pull this one off. Though we will count this weekend's gross for The Whale right? It's supposed to be in 500 or so theaters. That might help. But I think I'm too high on everything else except Whitney. That I might be too low on. |

The Whale is in 603 theaters this weekend. I believe Shack agreed to count this weekend as Whale's first "wide release" weekend. If Deadline is accurate about this 3 day weekend's box office for The Whale, I Wanna Dance, Puss in Boots, and Babylon, then Magic Mike is less than $5 million behind Algren. Then it all comes down to the January 6, 2023 weekend for Women Talking. |

Algren will be ahead by 4.5 million, while his Women Talking prediction is 5 million more. If it's over 2.25 million he win, while under 2.25 Mike wins. O will finish 3rd and only shouting distance from the top 2 after his pessimist predictions dominated Christmas weekend (he currently sits 4.5 million below Mike and 9 million below Algren, with same Women Talking prediction as Mike). It may have cost him that his I Wanna Dance With You optimism creeped in by predicting 13 million for it, more average than low compared to the other predictors, while Mike had the low number with 8. |

An overly negative view of box office ended up doing so nicely for me though it's a sad state of the film industry that my strategy thrived. From last to not too far off from #1. Think the worst and you'll rise to toward the top. What a horrible lesson to takeaway for the holidays!
